Fantasy Football Week 6 Defense Streamers
Philadelphia Eagles (57.9%)
Typically, the Philadelphia Eagles are synonymous with having a strong defense. Given this perception, it may surprise some to know that the Eagles’ D/ST ranks 29th in average fantasy points per game. Poor tackling has led to an inability to get off the field. Philly has compiled only two takeaways and a half-dozen QB sacks in four games played to date. Fortunately for the Eagles, Week 6 presents a tremendous opportunity to “get right”.
Fresh off a bye, Philadelphia will host the dysfunctional Cleveland Browns. Or, should I simply say that they will be facing off against Deshaun Watson? After all, the Browns’ offense looked great with Joe Flacco just one season ago. Watson can no longer operate as a quality NFL quarterback. It’s that simple. Thanks to his piss-poor play and injuries, Cleveland’s offensive line has allowed a league-high 26 sacks to date. The Browns have ceded the second most fantasy points per game to opposing defenses. Needless to say, the Eagles are a very attractive streamer in this matchup.
Houston Texans (52.6%)
Houston will hit the road this week to face an anemic New England Patriots offense. Just how bad have the Patriots been? Well, it’s been bad enough that they were willing to announce a quarterback change this week. Going forward, it will be rookie Drake Maye trying to operate behind the Pats’ bottom-of-the-barrel offensive line. Jacoby Brissett has been nothing special, but New England’s issues extend well beyond QB right now. The change should not temper excitement over the Texans as a fantasy football Week 6 streamers option.
Los Angeles Chargers (27.3%)
Despite ranking ninth in average fantasy points scored at the D/ST position, the Los Angeles Chargers are owned in less than 30% of leagues at the time of writing. Perhaps a Week 4 bye has something to do with this. At any rate, L.A. is widely available to be used as a fantasy football Week 6 streamers play. The Bolts have been impressive in each key fantasy category this season. They haven’t held opponents to 20 points or less in all four games, have recorded multiple sacks in each contest and have generated seven takeaways.
Following the needed bye week to get healthy, the Chargers carry plenty of intrigue this week in a favorable matchup against the division-rival Denver Broncos. Now, the Broncos do deserve credit for showing improvement on offense over the past few weeks. That said, last week’s impressive showing came against a bad Las Vegas Raiders outfit. The Chargers will be a much tougher task for rookie QB Bo Nix and an offense that remains void of big-time playmakers.
