Fantasy Football Week 4 TE Streamers

With three weeks of the NFL season in the books, fantasy football managers have likely gotten a pretty good sense of their team’s strengths and weaknesses. Unless you drafted a tight end by the name of Travis Kelce, Darren Waller or George Kittle, you probably aren’t fully satisfied at the position. While there are several other names behind them who warrant weekly start consideration, don’t rule out implementing a fantasy football streamers strategy at the TE position going forward. With three weeks to gauge defenses, managers can begin to make more knowledgeable streaming decisions.

Read on for three fantasy football streamers at tight end for Week 4 of the NFL season. In addition, at the end of the article is a list of some fantasy football tight ends who might be worth fading in difficult matchups this week.

Week 4 Fantasy Football TE Streamers

Ownership percentages reflect all ESPN Fantasy Football leagues

Tyler Conklin | Minnesota Vikings (vs CLE)

Current Ownership: 13.6%

To be completely honest, it’s a bit of a surprise that fantasy football ownership of Tyler Conklin only increased by 10% after he was one of the top performers in Week 3. As a result, he is an easy pick to include among our Week 4 TE streamers. Conklin showed out in the Vikings’ win over the Seattle Seahawks last Sunday, catching seven of eight targets for 70 yards and a touchdown. The performance saw him finish the week as the TE2 in PPR leagues with 20.0 fantasy points.

Conklin got bumped up the Vikings’ depth chart into the top TE role following the season-ending injury to Irv Smith Jr. back in the preseason. While he isn’t the same caliber of receiving threat as SMith, Conklin has still seen at least four targets in all three games thus far. Quarterback Kirk Cousins is known to frequently target his tight ends, so Conklin figures to have a firm target floor going forward. Looking at Week 4 specifically, Minnesota faces a Cleveland Browns defense that ranks 21st in fantasy points allowed to opposing TEs through three weeks. He might not be the TE2 again, but Conklin has what it takes to deliver as a fantasy football streamers play.

Dawson Knox | Buffalo Bills (vs HOU)

Current Ownership: 11.5%

If you’re feeling a bit of deja vu reading this section of the Week 4 TE streamers column, your senses are spot on. Bills tight end Dawson Knox occupied this same spot in last week’s streamers article. He came through for fantasy football managers with four catches for 49 yards and a touchdown to finish Week 3 as the TE9 with 14.9 fantasy points. Despite scoring no fewer than 8.1 fantasy points in three games to date and steadily increasing his output each week, Knox’s ownership remains extremely low in ESPN leagues. While there are certainly a lot of mouths to feed in Buffalo, QB Josh Allen has targeted Knox at least three times in every game so far. The fact that he has now found the end zone in back-to-back games also shows that he is also a focal point of the Bills’ red zone offense.

Talent has never been the concern for the former Ole Miss Rebel. To further bolster Knox’s candidacy as a streamer this week, note that the Bills face a Houston Texans defense that has allowed nearly 12 fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends, the fourth-most in the NFL. Knox enters Week 4 as the TE8 in PPR fantasy football leagues on the season. His ownership percentage is criminally low based on his production thus far, and managers streaming the position should continue to take advantage.

Pat Freiermuth | Pittsburgh Steelers (at GB)

Current Ownership: 4.9%

To round out our Week 4 tight end fantasy football streamers, let’s consider the case for Steelers rookie Pat Freiermuth. It really comes down to whether or not the second-rounder can prove that his impressive showings to date aren’t flukes. Pittsburgh’s inability to run the football has this offense once again looking extremely pass-happy. With receivers Diontae Johnson and JuJu Smith-Schuster both dealing with injuries last week, Freirmuth was able to haul in three of his five targets for 22 yards and a score. His 11.2 PPR fantasy points were good enough to see him finish as the TE11 on the week. If anything, this is just another nod to the lack of reliable depth at the position.

In addition to the Steelers’ corps trio of receivers, running back Najee Harris has also emerged as a go-to target for Ben Roethlisberger. Freiermuth also has to contend for playing time with veteran TE Eric Ebron. Despite Ebron being on the field for 19 more passing snaps last week, he was targeted just three times and failed to record a single reception. Ebron’s drop woes are nothing new, and Freiermuth has actually seen more targets than him in each of the last two games. While he would likely need a touchdown to have another top-12 week at the position, Freirmuth does get to face a Green Bay Packers defense that has allowed the second-most points to the position through three weeks. And hey, when it comes to fantasy football TE streamers, never say never!
