As we finish Week 2 of the NFL, there is something that has become glaringly obvious – the quarterback play in the league has been downright atrocious. Whether that be strong defensive line play, a soft two-high zone, or injuries, one thing is certain – this has affected many in the fantasy community, leading to many relying on fantasy football Week 3 streamers. At this point in the season, I am not sure if you feel comfortable unless you have Josh Allen.

Derek Carr Fantasy Outlook (54.5%)
Through the first two weeks of the season, it looks like Derek Carr is having a resurgence in his career. The Fresno State alum has totaled 443 passing yards and a league-leading five touchdown passes, as it looks like the Saints have the best offense in the NFL. It is easy to chalk that up to the start-of-the-season unknowns, but after seeing what Carr and the Saints did to a good Dallas Cowboys team in Week 2, I think that you need to take a second look. Carr is currently the second-ranked quarterback in fantasy football. With a matchup against the Eagles on the horizon, he should be a top fantasy football Week 3 streamers option for you.
Through two weeks, the Philadelphia Eagles have allowed 501 passing yards to Jordan Love and Kirk Cousins. That number ranks as the seventh most passing yards given up in the NFL. Add into that four passing touchdowns given up and it becomes a little easier to see that Carr can get at least 250 and two touchdowns in this matchup. If you are someone who has Jordan Love, or even someone who has Brock Purdy and you don’t feel comfortable, pick up Derek Carr and start him immediately as he is still available in 46% of leagues.
Geno Smith Fantasy Outlook (22.6%)
Geno Smith is quietly having a great start to his 11th season in the NFL. The offseason surrounding the Seahawks revolved mostly around when Sam Howell was going to take over for Smith, but at this rate, it may not happen this year. The Seahawks are 2-0 even with some injuries to key players like Kenneth Walker. As is always the case with Seahawks quarterbacks when it comes to fantasy football, we evaluate the weapons that are around them. DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba are one of the better WR corps in the NFL and are only going to continue to bolster Smith’s production.
At just a 22.6% owned-clip, Smith is currently the 10th highest-ranking quarterback in fantasy football. In Week 3, the Seahawks take on a Miami Dolphins defense that was just gashed for 31 points by the Buffalo Bills. It is easy to say that a majority of those points came by way of the run for the Bills, but with Walker injured, I am not sure Seattle can rely much on the run. With Miami having to start Skylar Thompson at quarterback this week, you would have to imagine that the Seahawks offense will be given more opportunities this week. With Seattle’s offense being on the field much more this week, I am not scared of the Dolphins at all this week.
Gardner Minshew Fantasy Outlook (4%)
This is not the sexiest pick by any means, even though Gardner Minshew is undoubtedly one of the best-looking quarterbacks in the NFL. I love this spot for Minshew because of the matchup against the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers are by far the worst team in the NFL this season, and maybe the worst team in the NFL for years to come.
Right now, the Panthers have given up five passing touchdowns, which is the second-most in the NFL this season. Take into account that the Raiders have seemingly smartened up and started giving the ball to their two best offensive players — Davante Adams and Brock Bowers. I love the Raiders in this game and certainly think that Minshew can sling 200+ yards and two touchdowns, especially with a close-to-non-existent running game. If you are in a deep league and are very desperate, there are certainly worse options than Minshew.
