Fantasy Football Week 2 RB Streamers
Kenneth Gainwell Fantasy Outlook (53.9%)
Editors Note: Kenneth Gainwell has been announced as doubtful to play on Thursday Night Football. Keep up to date on the Eagles backfield by using our Week 2 fantasy football rankings.
Kenneth Gainwell fantasy owners were rewarded last week, and he should be considered a top fantasy football streamers option for NFL Week 2. Last week, he served as the Philadelphia Eagles’ every-down back, with D’Andre Swift acting as the backup. Gainwell saw plenty of volume, with 14 carries for 54 yards while adding four catches for 20 yards.
His usage comes as a pleasant surprise to anyone who drafted him in the later rounds prior to the season, as he was on the field for 39 of the Eagles’ 66 plays while dominating snap share on early downs, short yardage and third down scenarios. D’Andre Swift and Rashaad Penny (scratched) will likely have some more runway on a short week, but it is still Gainwell’s backfield.
Kenneth Gainwell fantasy football owners should keep an eye on his injury status heading into Thursday Night Football, however.
Kyren Williams Fantasy Outlook (37%)
Kyren Williams took many people by surprise Sunday, out-snapping Cam Akers 53 to 28 while holding the advantage in early-down and third-down situations. Williams finished with 17.4 points in Half-PPR leagues while racking up 52 yards on 15 touches. He also got into the end zone twice.
We’ve seen fluctuations in Sean McVay’s running back usage before, including in this game when Williams was out-carrying Akers 11 to 10 until Akers received eight carries in the last four minutes of the game. But even with that, Kyren Williams is likely to be the Rams’ main pass-catching back and looks poised to come close to a split (or better) on rushing attempts. This makes him a must-add in nearly all PPR fantasy football leagues.
Joshua Kelley Fantasy Outlook (31.5%)
With Austin Ekeler now dealing with an ankle injury, Joshua Kelley has emerged as a potential weekly starting fantasy running back. On Sunday, Kelley got 16 carries and amassed 91 yards to go along with a touchdown.
Kelley played 60% of the Chargers’ snaps in the second half, which likely had much to do with Ekeler’s injury. Kelley is only really viable in starting lineups if Ekeler is ruled out, but he’s an auto-start if that ends up being the case.
