Fantasy Football Week 16 Defense Streamers
Buffalo Bills (51.3%)
Ah, yes, we kick off our list of defense options this week with a classic case of “buying on bad news”. The Buffalo Bills have engaged in back-to-back offensive shootouts over the past two weeks. For the two games, the Bills allowed a whopping 86 points and scored -12 fantasy points. That is hardly the kind of display we are seeking from a defense in the middle of the Fantasy Football Playoffs. Fortunately, clearer skies should be on the horizon for Buffalo in Week 16 as they take on a hated AFC East Division rival.
Believe it or not, the Bills still rank tenth among defenses in fantasy points scored this season even after these two recent brutal showings. Turnovers have been a big part of that. Entering Week 16, Buffalo ranks fifth in the NFL with 25 total takeaways on the year. On Sunday, the Bills will have the first of two late-season encounters with the New England Patriots who have had 18 giveaways. The Pats have also ceded the sixth-most fantasy points per game to the D/ST position. A bounce-back effort appears likely as the Bills return home and face a rookie QB in Drake Maye. As a result, Buffalo is one of the top fantasy football Week 16 streamers to consider.
Atlanta Falcons (29.5%)
Contrary to our first selection, the Atlanta Falcons have been playing quite well defensively as of late, at least as far as fantasy production is concerned. This past Monday saw the Falcons score a whopping 21 points, by far their best output of the campaign. Add in a 13-point game three weeks ago and it’s quite surprising to note that Atlanta is still only ranked 29th in fantasy points scored among all defenses. The Falcons have struggled on that side of the ball all year. The pass rush has only recently looked a tad better and the secondary is not superb by any stretch.
Luckily, both for managers in need of fantasy football Week 16 streamers and Atlanta’s own playoff hopes, another healthy matchup looms this Sunday. After getting the better of one of the NFL’s two-win teams last week, the Falcons get the opportunity to beat up on the other when they face the New York Giants. Once again, Atlanta’s pass rush should get a boost thanks to the matchup against what may be the worst offensive line in football. Whether it’s Drew Lock or Tommy DeVito under center, the Falcons will also benefit from going against a mistake-prone QB. The Giants have allowed the fourth-most fantasy points per game to opposing defenses on the season.

Indianapolis Colts (26.8%)
AFC South games have produced their fair share of sloppy offensive football thus far. Fantasy managers chasing a league championship will be excited to know that several more games are being played within this division over the next couple of weeks. Among them is a matchup between the Indianapolis Colts and the Tennessee Titans this coming Sunday. Although the Colts’ defense has largely underwhelmed this season, they check in as an ideal fantasy football Week 16 streamers candidate and remain sparsely owned following waiver processing at that.
Titans quarterback Will Levis has been the gift that keeps on giving for fantasy defenses this season. To date, Tennessee has allowed 11.5 fantasy points per game to the D/ST position, easily the most of any team. From a turnover standpoint, Mason Rudolph is an upgrade at QB as far as the Titans’ offense is concerned. However, he is hardly immune from committing giveaways in his own right. The Colts will probably allow their fair share of points thanks to a lackluster scheme, but a takeaway or two are certainly possible. Indy also has the horses up front on defense to win at the line of scrimmage.
Now, since it is the fantasy playoffs, having multiple options is a good thing. In lieu of this, we are happy to recommend the Titans (23.7%) as a fantasy football Week 16 defense streamers option as well. Anthony Richardson and the Colts’ offense are difficult to trust. In what could be a sloppy divisional game, both defenses are viable candidates to stream. Furthermore, both teams have favorable matchups next week as well. Maybe you have a better option for Week 16, but the Colts (at NYG) and Titans (at JAX) will probably both be right back in this column next week.
