Fantasy Football Week 12 RB Streamers
Cam Akers Fantasy Outlook (18.9%)
Cam Akers rushed for 25 yards on 10 carries in the Vikings 23-13 win over the Titans on Sunday. He caught both of his targets for 11 yards and a touchdown.
There hasn’t been much to go around on the waiver wire for RBs this season, mostly due to the uncharacteristic health of the position in 2024, but Akers provides some upside this week. The Vikings have a date with the Chicago Bears in Week 12. Divisional Games typically follow a more rough-and-tumble game script. In those types of games, I don’t mind taking a stab at a secondary running back who also carries some upside in the receiving game. Akers also benefits greatly should Aaron Jones, who we know is injury-prone, were to exit this game. Sam Darnold has been struggling lately, so there’s a world where Akers beneifts from some more checkdowns.
Roschon Johnson Fantasy Outlook (15.3%)
It’s hard to flat-out ignore 10 carries for any running back, especially as we’re staring at a week with six teams on bye right in the face. Johnson carried the ball 10 times for 33 yards and a touchdown while catching his lone target for an eight-yard gain in a 20-19 *heartbreaking* loss to the Packers in Week 11. Those 33 yards were a season-high in rushing yards for him.
The Bears draw the Minnesota Vikings in Week 12. But much like I said with Akers above, I like taking stabs at these backup running backs in tightly contested, late-season divisional games. Johnson has clearly gained some trust from the Bears coaching staff as well, so he’s a viable flex for RB-needy rosters this week. The Vikings’ run defense is stingy, second best in football, but Johnson should have a high enough floor of attempts to provide some upside.
Devin Singletary Fantasy Outlook (50.9%)
The New York Giants are moving on from the Daniel Jones era and will be starting Tommy DeVito in their upcoming Week 12 matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In the Giants’ 20-17 loss to the Carolina Panthers in Week 10, Singletary tallied 40 rushing yards on eight carries. He caught one ball for five yards, his lone target.
We can only assume that the Giants will rely a bit more on the run game as they close out the season. While DeVito does present some risk in the rushing game for running backs, he may cannibalize some attempts, Singletary should still see enough volume to be viable. The Buccaneers are one of the worst teams in the NFL against the run this season, and if Singletary can garner 8-12 touches, he’ll at least have the opportunity to have a good week.
