Since Week 4 of the season, there have been at least two teams on bye every week. Week 12 is the last week that fantasy owners will have to deal with bye weeks when making roster decisions. In Week 12, the Kansas City Chiefs, Arizona Cardinals, Los Angeles Chargers and Minnesota Vikings are all on bye.
Here are some of my favorite waiver wire pickups for Week 12.
To be considered as a possible “add,” they need to be owned in less than 60 percent of ESPN leagues. The drops on this list are by no means must-drop, but rather they are droppable.

QB/RB Adds
Sam Darnold, QB, New York Jets (12.3%)
Sam Darnold has thrown for over 200 yards in each of his last four games and has thrown for eight touchdowns over that span. Over the next three weeks, Darnold has a pretty easy schedule, with games against the Raiders, Bengals and Dolphins. If you stream QBs, Darnold could be the perfect one to ride into the playoffs, but he plays the Ravens and Steelers in weeks 15 and 16, so you will need to find a better option for the last two weeks of your playoffs.
Nick Foles, QB, Jacksonville Jaguars (19.7%)
After getting hurt in Week 1 and missing the following eight games, Foles did not disappoint in his second start of the season. In Week 11, Foles completed 33 of his 47 attempts for 296 yards and two touchdowns. The Jaguars play the Titans and Buccaneers over the next two weeks, both offering opportunities to build off last week’s performance.
Derrius Guice, RB, Washington Redskins (46.8%)
Guice has been on this list for a few weeks now, and we finally got to see why in Week 11. In his first game back from injury, he only had seven carries for 24 yards, but his seven carries were only two less than Peterson. Even though he only caught just one pass, he turned that reception into a 45-yard touchdown. If the carry share can shift more in favor of Guice over the next couple of weeks, he will be a great player to own in the playoffs.
Bo Scarbrough, RB, Detroit Lions (0.1%)
The Lion’s backfield has been a mess since Kerryon Johnson went out in Week 7. With Ty Johnson and J.D. McKissic unable to take hold of the job for themselves, the Lions promoted Scarbrough from the practice squad. In his first action of the season, Scarbrough rushed for 55 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries. In Week 12, the Lions play the Redskins, so Scarbrough could have an even more productive day.
Jonathan Williams, RB, Indianapolis Colts (0.0%)
With no Jordan Wilkins in the lineup and Marlon Mack leaving early due to injury, Jonathan Williams took full advantage of his opportunity. Williams was on the field for 31 snaps and had 13 carries for 116 yards. Wilkins could be back in Week 12, but Williams should still see a share of the early down work. If Wilkins misses Week 12 as well, Williams will get the bulk of the carries and could have a decent game against the Texans, who were just torched by the Ravens.
Gus Edwards, RB, Baltimore Ravens (4.0%)
Gus Edwards has only been on the field for about 20% of the Ravens’ offensive snaps this season. Week 11 was his best fantasy game of the year, with eight carries for 112 yards and a touchdown. If you take away his 63-yard touchdown run, Edwards still ran for an average of seven yards per carry. The Ravens are the most run-heavy team in the league this season, and Edwards is an incredibly valuable handcuff, in the event that Ingram is to miss any time over the remainder of the season.
Tony Pollard, RB, Dallas Cowboys (11.4%)
Like Gus Edwards, Tony Pollard is a valuable handcuff, based on the Cowboys running ability. The Cowboys rank inside the top-10 in rushing yards per game. In Week 11, Pollard was utilized heavily in the passing game, catching all four targets for 44 yards and a touchdown. His best rushing game was back in Week 3, when he ran for 103 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries. If you have any roster flexibility, Pollard is worth a stash in case Zeke gets injured during the fantasy playoffs.
Pass Catcher Adds
DaVante Parker, WR, Miami Dolphins (44.7%)
Parker has been on this list for a while now and I am still surprised his ownership is so low. Parker is clearly the top wide receiver on the Dolphins and has been targeted 10 times in three of the last five games. Even though Parker did not get a touchdown in Week 11, he did have 135 yards, showing that he is not only touchdown-dependent. Parker should be owned in most leagues by now, so if he is available, make sure to add him.
Deebo Samuel, WR, San Francisco 49ers (32.9%)
Since missing the 49ers Week 7 game due to injury, Samuel has been on the field for at least 66% of snaps in each game. Prior to Week 7, Samuel had not been on the field for over 60% of the snaps since Week 1. Samuel has had at least 110 yards on eight catches in each of his last two games. This production is partly due to Sanders missing time, but his usage has been increasing ever since returning from injury.
Randall Cobb, WR, Dallas Cowboys (31.6%)
Through 11 weeks, Randall Cobb is the third leading receiver on the Cowboys, with 495 yards on 35 receptions. Cobb has had at least five receptions in all but three games, which provides a pretty safe floor in most fantasy leagues. Over the past two weeks, Cobb has had a least 100 receiving yards and a touchdown. The Cowboys do play the Patriots in Week 12, but Cobb runs primarily out of the slot and is the third passing option, so he could have a sneaky good game.
Josh Gordon, WR, Seattle Seahawks (54.2%)
In his debut game for the Seahawks prior to their bye week, Gordon caught both of his targets for 27 yards. Gordon’s two targets did not come until the fourth quarter and overtime, but they both were on third downs in must-convert situations. Wilson’s trust to go to Gordon in those situations is very promising of good things to come over the remainder of the season.
Dallas Goedert, TE, Philadelphia Eagles (28.3%)
Dallas Goedert may be the Eagles’ second tight end, but he has two more touchdowns than Ertz on the year. Goedert has carved out a consistent role in the offense over the past few weeks, with at least four targets in each of his last four games. In addition to his consistent targets, Goedert has had a touchdown in three of his last four games, offering fantasy owners touchdown upside in each game he plays.
Ryan Griffin, TE, New York Jets (1.1%)
Without Chris Herndon in the lineup, Ryan Griffin has been the leading TE, with 269 yards and four touchdowns on 25 receptions. Griffin has had at least four targets and 50 yards in three of the last four games. The Jets play the Raiders in Week 12, which is a favorable matchup for Griffin, but they follow that with a few tough games, so Griffin will have limited upside for the remainder of the season. But if Darnold and Griffin continue to build chemistry, the targets should increase in the coming weeks.
Jacob Hollister, TE, Seattle Seahawks (15.0%)
It took Hollister a few weeks to start having an impact for the Seahawks, but he is becoming one of Wilson’s favorite targets. Over the past two weeks, Hollister has 12 receptions on 16 targets for 99 yards and three touchdowns. The touchdowns are likely to regress, but his usage is encouraging at the TE position. If you are in need of a TE, Hollister offers a safe floor, if the targets continue to come in the coming weeks.
David Njoku, TE, Cleveland Browns (17.7%)
So far this season, we have only seen David Njoku on the field for Week 1 and a short part of Week 2, when he was forced from the game with an injury. In Week 1, he caught 4/6 targets for 37 yards and a touchdown. Njoku is still technically on IR, but he is currently listed as day to day. If you have any roster flexibility, Njoku is worth a stash and could be an every week starter for your team in the playoffs.
