The fantasy football regular season is coming to an end, and you may already be envisioning yourself hosting your league’s fantasy football trophy or championship belt. But first, you have to escape Week 14, which features six teams on bye. Through teams being off and injuries around the league, you may need to make some fantasy football waiver wire pickups, such as Cam Akers in Week 14.

The Los Angeles Rams have a two-man backfield of Cam Akers and Kyren Williams. However, Akers dominated snaps last week, as they remained in the game against the Seattle Seahawks and were able to continue running the football. Currently, he is owned in only 53.3% of ESPN fantasy leagues.

Let’s take a closer look at why you should think about a Cam Akers fantasy football waiver wire pickup in Week 14.

Cam Akers Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickup in Week 14

The Cam Akers fantasy football performance last week was his best of the season. He ran 17 times for 60 yards and two touchdowns, then he added a reception for no yards. This performance was good for an RB9 finish in PPR scoring.

As stated above, Akers dominated backfield snaps and touches last week because of the game script. He played 46 snaps to Williams’ 18, but Akers ran 19 routes compared to Williams’ 11. If the Rams were down by a lot and needed to throw, Williams would have had a much better fantasy performance. However, with a Thursday night game against the Las Vegas Raiders, we could see another solid Cam Akers fantasy football performance in Week 14.

The Raiders’ run defense isn’t bad, but they struggle as a team overall. This means the Rams could hang around and let Akers touch the ball nearly 20 times again.
