Three fantasy football TE options to stream in NFL Week 9, including Chicago Bears’ tight end Colston Loveland.
We are at the mid-point of the season, so we have a pretty good idea of what teams are at this point. We know what tight ends are among the elite, but if you are one of those players who do not have an elite fantasy football TE, this article is for you. There are some notable tight ends on bye this week, with Harold Fannin and Dallas Goedert not playing. That leaves many in a position where they need a spot start this week. You may also have come into the season looking to stream the tight end position after waiting in your draft. If that is the case, you need to pick up one of these options to fill in your lineup for Week 9.
That is where I come in. I am going to give you a couple of tight ends owned in under 60% of ESPN fantasy leagues that have the best matchups to be included among our Week 9 TE fantasy football streamers! When you’re done, check out our Week 9 fantasy football rankings!
Stream These Fantasy Football TE Options in Week 9
Colston Loveland vs. Cincinnati Bengals (24.1%)
Colston Loveland tops my fantasy football TE streamers this week. With Cole Kmet missing last week with a back injury, it is up in the air if he will be ready to play in Week 9. That leads the way to Loveland being TE1 for the Bears. Last week, in his duties as a lead tight end, Loveland saw five targets. As the tides continue to turn on Caleb Williams, getting easy completions to a tight end is going to be key to keeping his development moving in the right direction.
Luckily for the Bears, they get the Cincinnati Bengals this week. Loveland will be a part of the offense as the Bengals have been terrible against the tight end position this year. They are giving up an average of 13.9 fantasy points a game to the position. In fact, the Bengals are dead last in touchdowns given up to tight ends this season, at 10. The Bears will be able to move the ball against the Bengals, and based on previous results against the Bengals from other teams, Loveland will be a part of that.

Jonnu Smith vs. Indianapolis Colts (17.5%)
The Steelers have a number of somewhat viable options at the fantasy football TE position this season, with Aaron Rodgers, but if you made me pick one, I am taking Jonnu Smith. He is definitely the best receiver out of the bunch that includes Pat Freiermuth and Darnell Washington. That works out well for Rodgers and the offense against the Colts this week.
The Colts have been bad against the tight end position this season. They are giving up an average of 9.9 fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends. That works well for Rodgers, as we know he will take what the defense gives him. The Colts must take away Metcalf in this game, which means Smith will be open in the middle of the field. He is great with the ball after the catch, so riding Smith is going to be big for the Steelers to pull the upset this week.
A.J. Barner vs Washington Commanders (7.9%)
While I am a fan of Elijah Arroyo, it looks like AJ Barner is the TE1 in Seattle this season. Last game, Barner was on the field for 86% of the offensive snaps, while Arroyo saw just 38% of them. Barner has quietly put together a solid season, as he currently sits at TE17. He has put together some big weeks, scoring 20.8 points against the Buccaneers in Week 5, and he has gone over eight points three other times.
He will go over that number again this week, as the Seahawks take on the Washington Commanders, who have struggled against tight ends. The Commanders are giving up an average of 9.5 fantasy points per game to the position. On the season, they have given up 489 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns. With how good Sam Darnold has been playing, I am not worried about any concerns of Barner getting the ball. Seattle will be able to move the ball against the Commanders, and if history has told us anything, Barner has as good of shot as anyone for a touchdown this week.
