Don’t have a tight end? No worries! Stream these fantasy football TE options in Week 5 of the NFL season, including Miami Dolphins’ Darren Waller!
As we enter the fifth week of the NFL season, the start of bye weeks will make the fantasy football TE landscape very interesting. Players like Tucker Kraft and Kyle Pitts will need replacements for you, while many others drafted the position with thoughts to stream the best matchup week-to-week anyway. So, if you don’t have an elite option to lock in for Week 5, you may be looking to stream your tight end in order to get a win this week.
Using information that we learned last week, we can get an idea of which tight ends owned in under 60% of ESPN fantasy leagues have the best matchups to be included among our Week 5 TE fantasy football streamers! When you’re done, check out our Week 5 fantasy football rankings!

Darren Waller vs Carolina Panthers (28%)
In his first week of action in what felt like a lifetime, Darren Waller did not disappoint. Against the New York Jets, Waller came away with two touchdown receptions. With Tyreek Hill being out the rest of the year, there all of a sudden is a big hole to fill in the Dolphins’ receiving room. While Malik Washington probably steps in immediately, there should be enough targets to go around for Waller to stay involved. With Miami looking like one of the worst teams in the NFL to start the year, seeing Waller come and score twice gives the Dolphins some kind of juice. Is Waller enough to give a shot of excitement in the Miami offense to get it back on track?
What works well for Waller this week is a matchup with the Carolina Panthers. On the season, the Panthers have given up an average of 9.5 points per game to opposing fantasy football TEs. We saw Hunter Henry score on a catch-and-run against Carolina, as well as New England dropping 42 points on them. Miami will be able to move the ball, and with Waller as a big-bodied red zone target, he is in a prime position to put together another big week in Week 5.

Brenton Strange vs Kansas City Chiefs (29.5%)
Don’t look now, but Brenton Strange is currently the 14th-ranked fantasy football TE and is available in more than 75% of leagues. With how difficult it is to find suitable options at the tight end position in fantasy football, to see the 14th-ranked tight end available in so many leagues is mind-boggling. With how dysfunctional the Jaguars’ receiving weapons have been, the one constant has been Strange.
He continues to see a large target share, as well as bringing in six passes last week. If you are playing in a full point PPR format, six receptions are as good as a touchdown. Given that he has not scored a touchdown yet this season, Strange is probably never going to win you a week, but with six receptions, that is good enough to make an impact for you on any given week.
Jake Tonges vs Los Angeles Rams (23.3%)
I feel like a broken record, because this is the third week in a row that I am writing up Jake Tonges in this fantasy football TE streamer article. Without George Kittle, Tonges has been a solid receiving tight end option for Kyle Shanahan. Last week, Tonges recorded 58 receiving yards and a touchdown. That means that in three weeks, Tonges has scored two touchdowns. While the target share is relatively low, there is no denying that he is getting into the endzone.
Tonges is kind of the opposite player of Brenton Strange. Where Strange is garnering a lot of attention, Tonges is not. But where Strange is not finding the end zone, Tonges is. It is obvious that the tight end position will be used in this offense to help balance the run. That means whoever is getting the snaps at that position is going to see work. With Tonges filling that role until Kittle is back, it is hard to argue against streaming him if you are in a deeper league and need immediate help.
