One of the biggest rushes of creating a fantasy football team is drafting your players. The thrill of selecting the best of the bunch, the joys of seeing your investment paid off, and the high of beating your opponents are second to none.
However, as we all know, fantasy football is dictated by the real-life settings of the NFL. With that comes the turbulence from the business side of the league that causes coaches and players to grift with each other or with the administration. Fantasy managers, keep an eye on the league! In fact, here are some fantasy football situations that include top players that could be on the move.
Fantasy Football Studs Who Could Be Traded This Season
Davante Adams, Las Vegas Raiders
It’s no secret that Davante Adams is not happy with the Las Vegas Raiders. It’s hard to blame him, as one of the key reasons for his transfer to the team was the reunion with Derek Carr. But, with Carr now in New Orleans, the roster being questionable at best, and the struggles of playing in the AFC West are appearing to weigh on Adams’ mindset about his position.
For the record, Adams has come out with a very blunt response to his own comments, but it raises more questions than answers. As in, if he tried to call out everyone else for trying too hard to analyze his comment, why make such a controversial quote in the first place? If he was so secure in Vegas, then why would he even give such a damning remark about the organization and how they don’t see eye-to-eye?
Don’t be surprised if Davante Adams requests a trade if the Raiders start the season out slowly.
Stefon Diggs, Buffalo Bills
Stefon Diggs and the Buffalo Bills drama has more or less cooled off over the past month. Diggs was a day late to the mandatory minicamp and had private conversations with the higher-ups and coaching staff following practices. For the record, Diggs took to social media to quell the rumors, but it doesn’t take a genius to know where there’s smoke there’s fire. It certainly doesn’t help his case when he’s been caught on camera hounding Josh Allen in critical situations.
To add further weight to the severity of this situation, this isn’t Diggs’ first rodeo either. He essentially forced himself out of Minnesota over his unhappiness with the coaching staff, play-calling, and lack of winning. If he feels comfortable doing it once, and if he feels comfortable publicly being frustrated on the field, then this is a situation to watch unfold in Buffalo.
This situation will likely rear its ugly head later in the season, should things start to collapse near the playoffs or in the post-season. However, it’s always good to be prepared ahead of time in case things start on the wrong foot.
Jonathan Taylor, Indianapolis Colts
Jonathan Taylor’s trade request took everyone by surprise this year. Sure, Taylor is in the last year of his rookie deal after being the workhorse in Indianapolis. Surely the Colts would extend him, right? Oh wait, the RB market is atrocious right now in the NFL — this trade request shouldn’t have surprised anybody.
While the trade request shouldn’t have come as a surprise, the real surprise is what’s going to happen with Taylor. Currently, he’s listed on the PUP list, but the depth chart for the Colts is a conundrum in itself.
So, does Taylor come back to the Colts to increase his stock for trade offers and prove himself on the field? Do the Colts roll with a mediocre committee? Does Taylor hold out? If so, how long? The point is, this situation is currently the hottest one of the bunch and fantasy managers everywhere should stay tuned to figure this one out.
Always be Prepared in Fantasy Football
Realistically speaking, the Colts and Taylor are the most explosive situation at the moment, with Taylor taking the cake over Adams and Diggs by a large margin. The Raiders and Davante Adams situation could take a turn for the worse, but that will happen when losses start to pile up throughout the year, and the trade deadline is in October. Lastly, with the roster and coaching staff in Buffalo, it all seems to fall down if Diggs is a sore loser come winter.
These players are certified superstars for their respective NFL franchises and your fantasy team. That’s why these situations are increasingly volatile for the projection of your fantasy season. If you haven’t already, make sure to draft adequate depth or be prepared to make an uncomfortable trade to replace these players, should things go south.
As a manager, you should always keep up to date with the latest NFL news. That’s why these are fantasy football situations to watch throughout the year.
