Week 9 is here and with it comes another four teams on bye: Buccaneers, Lions, Seahawks and Washington Football Team. This article is not here for the obvious plays, so if you have Jonathan Taylor, Alvin Kamara or Dalvin Cook, you know what to do. This article will look at fantasy football RBs on the fringe of RB2/Flex status to help you make the tough choices to win your matchups.

Fantasy Football Start or Sit: Week 9 RBs

Start: Boston Scott vs. Chargers

Team Name: Boston Baked Beans

With Miles Sanders out last week, Boston Scott worked as the Eagles’ lead back until the Lions piled up a 41-point lead on the Lions, who are the current favorites to corral Matt Corral in the 2022 NFL Draft. Over the first three quarters of action, Scott had 12 carries for 60 yards and two touchdowns before giving way to Kenneth Gainwell to run out the clock in the fourth quarter. This week, he gets a matchup with the Chargers, who have given up 925 yards rushing (31st in the league) and an average of 5.0 yards per carry. This week, with four teams on bye and multiple injuries at the position, Boston Scott makes a solid RB2 play.

Start: Devontae Booker vs. Raiders

Team Name: Booker Smart

As of Wednesday, Saquon Barkley has not made it back to practice and has now tested positive for COVID and will need two negative tests to play on Sunday assuming that his ankle is good to go. With a bye coming up in Week 10 and the Giants going nowhere this season, it is looking very likely that Barkley will miss again this week. This makes Devontae Booker and his recent workload, since Barkley has been out, a solid RB2 based on volume alone. The Raiders are giving up 25.8 fantasy points per game (fppg) to opposing RBs, so monitor Barkley’s health status and, if he is out, fire up Booker as an RB2 or Flex.

Sit: Titans RBs at Rams

Team Name: McNichols & Dimes

With Derrick Henry likely out for the rest of the regular season, the Titans backfield is a bit of a mystery as far as what type of usage we will see this week. First off is Jeremy McNichols, the incumbent who will likely get most of the work this week as Adrian Peterson gets up to speed with the playbook and is also the favorite for passing game work. Peterson will likely take on early-down work and goal line duties and will begin phasing in this week and ramping up to more once he is comfortable in the offense. Dontrell Hilliard is also in the mix and the Titans have also signed D’Onta Foreman to their practice squad as well. Preferably, you can wait a week for roles to become more clear before starting anyone in this backfield.

Sit: Devin Singletary at Jaguars

Team Name: Singletary Pringle Looking to Mingle

After being out-touched by Zack Moss last week, 14-8, Devin Singletary has now gone five straight weeks outside of RB2 territory and has not hit double-digits in fantasy points since Week 2. Even though the matchup against the Jaguars is not a tough one, they give up 23.7 fppg to opposing RBs. Singletary is tough to trust as the third back behind. both Moss and Josh Allen. on the Bills. Leave Singletary on your bench this week, unless you are truly desperate for a body to plug in as an RB2 or Flex.
