The first NFL head coach was fired, which will hopefully bring brighter days ahead for Davante Adams. However, there are other fantasy football WRs you may have questions about this week, due to bye weeks, injuries or tough matchups. That is where we come in, helping you with this Week 9 WR Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em analysis.
Obviously, there are some players who are must-start every single week due to where you drafted them, such as Tyreek Hill, Stefon Diggs and Ja’Marr Chase. However, the WR2 and WR3 positions are a bit more fluid, causing some tough decisions to be made. To help you through these tough decisions, check out our weekly fantasy football rankings and read on for our Week 9 fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em analysis at WR.
Tight Ends — Week 9 Fantasy Football Start/Sit
Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em: Week 9 WRs
Start: Zay Flowers Fantasy Outlook vs Seahawks
I’ve heard from some Zay Flowers fantasy football owners who are a bit nervous about starting him. Well, hopefully his inclusion in the Week 9 Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em soothes those nerves.
Flowers is coming off of a poor performance where he caught 5-of-7 targets for 19 yards. If a player sees seven targets and you’re still panicking, then they must be pretty damn good. Also, last week’s performance was the first game of his NFL career (this season) where he totaled less than 50 yards.
This week, Zay Flowers faces a Seattle Seahawks team that surrenders the eighth-most fantasy points to WRs. Given his production and role this season, it feels like his floor in Week 9 is around nine points, but he certainly has the upside for much more. Lock him in, especially with how well Lamar Jackson is throwing the ball!
Start: Diontae Johnson Fantasy Outlook vs Titans
The Tennessee Titans can stop the run, but their secondary hasn’t been great. On top of that, they recently traded away All-Pro safety Kevin Byard, making a struggling secondary worse. And speaking of struggling, the Pittsburgh Steelers’ offense blows. However, this has led to more “hate” being directed towards Diontae Johnson than is deserved.
Johnson continues to be a solid fantasy football contributor in PPR-scoring leagues. He has played two games since his return from injury. In these two games, he has totaled 20 targets, catching 13 of them for 164 yards. No, Diontae Johnson fantasy owners shouldn’t be expecting a massive performance since the likelihood of him scoring a touchdown is nearly zero (unless…?). However, he is a high-floor option, which should return solid value on Thursday Night Football, facing a Titans team that surrenders the seventh-most fantasy points to WRs.

Sit: Joshua Palmer Fantasy Outlook at Jets
Following the Mike Williams injury, Josh Palmer fantasy owners have been lucky enough to see increased value with the Chargers’ receiver. That was until last week when Palmer played a bit banged up and totaled only 24 yards against the Bears.
This week, Josh Palmer is still a bit banged up, but the matchup is much worse. The Chargers face the New York Jets this week. The Jets surrender the fewest fantasy points to WRs in the league. In fact, they have given up just one receiving touchdown to a WR all year. His placement in this week’s Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em is obvious.
Sit: Marquise Brown Fantasy Outlook at Browns
A week after Marquise Brown’s fantasy value was salvaged by a garbage time touchdown, he finds himself in another tough matchup where you should sit him. The Cardinals face off against the Cleveland Browns, who have been terrific defensively this season.
Cleveland surrenders the third-fewest fantasy points to WRs per game. On top of that, Marquise Brown will be catching passes (hopefully) from Clayton Tune in the rookie’s first career start. A rookie’s first career start against Myles Garrett and Jim Schwartz? No thanks.
