Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em: Week 6 QBs

Start: Geno Smith Fantasy Outlook vs. Cardinals

Geno Smith is the fantasy football QB7 through the first five weeks of the season and has been in the QB1 mix in all but one game. Since his Week 2 dud against the 49ers, who are holding opposing QBs to a minuscule 9.7 fantasy points per game (fppg), Smith has games of 19.9, 31.7 and 24.0 fantasy points. This week, he gets a plus matchup against the Arizona Cardinals, who are giving up an average of 19.9 fppg.

With the Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, Las Vegas Raiders and Tennessee Titans all on bye this week, this fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em article views Smith as a solid QB1. Get him in your lineup.

Start: Kirk Cousins Fantasy Outlook vs. Dolphins

A little further down the season QB leaders is Kirk Cousins, who sits at QB11 through the first five weeks. Cousins gets the benefit of a great matchup this week against the Miami Dolphins, who are allowing 22.7 fppg to opposing QBs, which is fourth-worst in the league. While Cousins has had an up-and-down season to this point, finishing as a QB1 in odd weeks and outside of that range in even weeks, look for him to break that trend this week. Start him in a plus matchup, then coming out of his bye in Week 7 he gets another couple of positive matchups.

Sit: Marcus Mariota Fantasy Outlook vs. 49ers

Just in case you have Jared Goff or Derek Carr on your team, both of which are on a bye, and are looking for Marcus Mariota as a QB option based on his dual-threat capabilities, keep on looking. This fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em article views Mariota as a “sit.”

Despite being a relatively safe QB to stream this year, with 15.4 fantasy points or more in all but one game, he draws the top defense against fantasy QBs in the 49ers who are allowing only 9.7 fppg. His top two receivers are also battling injuries. Look at other options if you are looking for a fantasy football QB streamer this week.

Sit: Trevor Lawrence Fantasy Outlook vs. Colts

Trevor Lawrence has had two QB1 games this season, and one of them just happened to be against the Indianapolis Colts back in Week 2 when he passed for 235 yards and two touchdowns and ran for an additional 11 yards, totaling 18.4 fantasy points. Aside from that performance and Week 3 against the Los Angeles Chargers, Lawrence has been the QB24, QB30 and QB21. The Colts defense is solid against opposing QBs as well, giving up only 15.6 fppg, and they likely will want to repay the 24-0 beating the Jaguars put on them. Find a better option.
