Week 6 fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em TE analysis from FlurrySports includes the likes of Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku.
As we continue to progress through the start of the NFL season, we continue to get a better idea of who teams really are. Notoriously, though, the fantasy TE position is one that many people choose to stream the best possible lineup week-to-week because of the uncertainty. Whether this was your plan or you have fallen into the path of needing to stream TEs, this article is for you! Below, we will help you make those tough decisions in that tight end grey area, discussing our Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em players!
We do not need to discuss the obvious studs at TE in this weekly Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em article. Yes, you should start Tucker Kraft and Trey McBride every week, and it does not matter who they play. Tight end is one of the most-streamed positions in fantasy, so we are looking at that grey area where a player could return starting TE value if the matchup is right, and vice versa.
Now, labeling a player as a “sit” does not mean they are a must-sit player. As always, check out our weekly fantasy football rankings here. You can also become a member to join a group chat with Zach Brunner and other members where all fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em questions are welcomed!

Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em: Week 6 TEs
Start: David Njoku Fantasy Outlook vs Pittsburgh Steelers
The Cleveland Browns were at the top of the news in the football world this week, trading veteran quarterback Joe Flacco to the divisional rival Cincinnati Bengals. That leaves the door open for Dillon Gabriel to take over as the no-question starting quarterback. While that is certainly not the greatest sign for fantasy receiving options, we know that big-bodied tight ends perform well with rookie quarterbacks. As Gabriel continues to learn how to play quarterback, having a safety blanket with Njoku is huge for Gabriel.
On top of Njoku seemingly being the number one receiving option in the Browns offense, he gets a great matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers this week. This season, the Pittsburgh Steelers are giving up 10 points per game to tight ends, which ranks as the third-most in the NFL. Those numbers extrapolate to 283 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns.
Start: Juwan Johnson Fantasy Outlook vs New England Patriots
Juwan Johnson started the season looking like he was going to save all of those who did not draft a tight end and planned on streaming. While that started off hot, Johnson has not totally lived up to those expectations after Week 3. He has back-to-back weeks with under five points. This is a week, though, where he has the chance to right those wrongs. The Saints, coming off an emotional win for Spencer Rattler, take on the New England Patriots, who may be in a letdown spot. As Spencer Rattler continues to progress, Johnson’s big frame is perfect for a red zone target, with a touchdown certainly being a possibility.
The New England Patriots have not been great against the tight end position this season. They are giving up an average of nine points a game to opposing tight ends. The stat that sticks out is that they have given up five touchdowns to tight ends this season. That number ranks as the most in the NFL, giving the possibility that Johnson finds the end zone in this game.

Sit: Kyle Pitts Fantasy Outlook vs Buffalo Bills
While it seems like Kyle Pitts is having a good season, that is probably due to his expectations being as low as they have ever been. He only has one game this season with double-digit fantasy points. That may also be due to his lack of elite run blocking. It is no secret that the Falcons want to run the ball. Bijan Robinson is their best player, so giving him the ball as much as possible makes sense. That means that the Falcons need a reliable run blocker on the edge, and that is something that Pitts cannot fill.
Another minus for Pitts this week is that the Buffalo Bills have been great against the tight end this season. They are only giving up 2.6 points per game to opposing tight ends. They have been really good at keeping tight ends out of the end zone, as they have only given up one receiving touchdown to the position. I am a huge Michael Penix fan, but I am not a fan of the inconsistency that comes with Pitts. Look elsewhere for your tight end position this week if you can.
Sit: Theo Johnson Fantasy Outlook vs Philadelphia Eagles
Theo Johnson was a major pickup this week, as it can be hard to find production at the tight end position. If you picked him up this week, I am guessing that you are looking to throw him into your lineup immediately. If possible, I would wait on that this week if you can. Johnson has been extremely touchdown-dependent, as he has scored three touchdowns in his last games. The last two weeks, he has combined for just over 27 fantasy points. Touchdowns have accounted for 18 of those points. It is hard to believe that those numbers stay consistent.
If there is any week where Johnson won’t score a touchdown, it is this week. The Philadelphia Eagles, even though they lost to the Broncos, sport one of the better defenses in the NFL. That defense has been great against opposing tight ends as well. The Eagles are only giving up 3.6 points per game to opposing tight ends, while only giving up one touchdown. The numbers are not in Johnson’s favor to continue his touchdown streak this week.
