Week 4 fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em TE analysis from FlurrySports includes the likes of Minnesota Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson.
As we continue to progress through the start of the NFL season, we continue to get a better idea of who teams really are. Notoriously, though, the fantasy TE position is one that many people choose to stream the best possible lineup week-to-week because of the uncertainty. Whether this was your plan or you have fallen into the path of needing to stream TEs, this article is for you! Below, we will help you make those tough decisions in that tight end grey area, discussing our Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em players!
We do not need to discuss the obvious studs at TE in this weekly Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em article. Yes, you should start Brock Bowers and Trey McBride every week, and it does not matter who they play. Tight end is one of the most-streamed positions in fantasy, so we are looking at that grey area where a player could return starting TE value if the matchup is right, and vice versa.
Now, labeling a player as a “sit” does not mean they are a must-sit player. As always, check out our weekly fantasy football rankings here. You can also become a member to join a group chat with Zach Brunner and other members where all fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em questions are welcomed!

Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em: Week 4 TEs
Start: TJ Hockenson Fantasy Outlook vs Pittsburgh Steelers
While the Minnesota Vikings did not need to do a ton on offense to win against the Bengals last week, TJ Hockenson found the end zone last week. With Carson Wentz at the helm, it seems like there is a little bit more stability at the quarterback position for the Vikings. Wentz is not known as a player who will take risky shots if he does not have to, so I am expecting Hockenson to be a safe option again this week.
Luckily for Hockenson and the Vikings as a whole, they get a matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers this week. At any point in the last two decades, this seems like a horrible play, but this season the Steelers look awful on the defensive side of the ball. They have given the most fantasy points to tight ends this season, including three touchdowns allowed.
Start: Hunter Henry Fantasy Outlook vs Carolina Panthers
Even with the Patriots struggling on offense as of late, with turnovers and mental mistakes, Hunter Henry has been a solid constant for Drake Maye and Josh McDaniels this season. Through three weeks, Henry has totaled 165 receiving yards and two touchdowns. This included a performance last week where he finished as TE1. Without solid outside receiving weapons, Henry will have to be a key piece in this passing game for the Patriots to really compete in games this year.
The Patriots will be able to run the ball in the game in this one, which will lead to Henry being able to work the underneath routes. The Patriots’ matchup against the Panthers also gives Henry a big opportunity to star, as the Panthers have given up the most yards to tight ends this season, with 222. Henry is a perfect safety blanket for Maye as he continues to grow in the NFL.

Sit: Juwan Johnson Fantasy Outlook vs Buffalo Bills
While Juwan Johnson has been a revelation for the the Saints this season, that could subside this week as they take on a tough Buffalo Bills defense. The Saints not only feature terrible quarterback play, but a rookie head coach. Going against the Bills, this game could turn into a blowout quick where the Saints struggle to do anything on offense.
This season, the Bills have been great against the tight end position. They have given up just 32 yards on five receptions. With shaky quarterback play, Johnson has registered a strong start to the season, but that can subside this week against a much superior opponent.
Sit: Dallas Goedert Fantasy Outlook vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers
After coming off of an injury, Dallas Goedert was able to find his way into the end zone last week. While that was nice to see him in the end zone I do not expect that to continue this week. In a matchup against the Buccaneers, the Eagles won’t find themselves down so big so early. We saw a shift to the pass game due to that big deficit. Even with his touchdown last week, Goedert totaled just the one reception in that game.
We know that Philadelphia wants to run the ball. Given this, Goedert’s ceiling is limited at best. Even in a passing situation that we saw last week, Goedert was only able to total that one reception. With AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith, Saquon Barkley and Jalen Hurts’ legs, Goedert is, at best, the fifth option in this offense. And with a matchup against the Bucs, who have only given up 106 receiving yards to tight ends this year, look elsewhere for your tight end position.
