Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em: Week 3 WRs

Start: Gabriel Davis vs. Dolphins

Gabriel Davis was featured as a “start” in this article last week, prior to getting hurt in walkthroughs and being declared inactive. Hopefully, you were able to start someone else as a replacement and didn’t get stuck with a zero. The facts remain though that, going back to Week 13 of last season, over Gabriel Davis’ past eight games including the playoffs, he has 10 touchdowns and started off the season with four receptions for 88 yards and a touchdown (18.8 fantasy points).

Davis is a borderline weekly WR2 with his role in this offense. Assuming he plays, this is another fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em article where we recommend Gabriel Davis fantasy football owners play him.

Start: Curtis Samuel vs. Eagles

The WR8 on the season, Curtis Samuel is another recommended Commander start this week, like his QB Carson Wentz. In Week 1, Samuel had 11 targets and carried the ball four times, which he turned into eight receptions for 55 yards and a touchdown and another 17 yards on the ground good (19.2 fantasy points). Last week, he caught 7-of-9 targets for 78 yards and a touchdown. He added another carry for 21 yards, which was good for 22.9 fantasy points. His usage as a receiver and runner gives him a safe floor and offers plenty of upside, as he has been a WR1 both weeks.

This fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em article suggets Curtis Samuel fantasy football owners gets him in their lineup this week.

Sit: JuJu Smith-Schuster vs. Colts

After a solid Week 1, where he caught 6-of-8 targets for 79 yards, JuJu Smith-Schuster fantasy owners were let down last week. He appeared to be a solid play, but after only three receptions for 10 yards, we are reminded that the WR corps in Kansas City sans Tyreek Hill still needs some monitoring. Travis Kelce is the leading receiver here and the most-targeted, with 16 but, after him, Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling both have 11 and Mecole Hardman has 10. Wait to see how this situation develops.

Sit: Brandon Aiyuk vs. Broncos

After leading the 49ers in targets, receptions and yardage last week, with Jimmy Garoppolo back under center, Brandon Aiyuk looks like he might take the next step. He is in his third season now, which is typically when WRs begin to hit their prime. However, this week, Aiyuk has a tough matchup with the Broncos, who are only allowing 15.4 fantasy points per game (fppg) to opposing WRs. The 49ers remain a run-first offense. While that may change a little with Garoppolo at the helm, they still have Deebo Samuel and George Kittle, when he is back in the lineup. Keep Aiyuk on the bench for now.
