Week 2 fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em WR analysis from FlurrySports includes the likes of Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf.
Boy, after the week some of the top fantasy wide receivers just had, you don’t know who to start! Okay, that’s a little bit of an overreaction, but it was a strange week to be sure. What we did find, however, was some value that you could play as a WR3 pretty confidently. In this weekly Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em article, we will be talking about the WR2/3 grey area where you may have some tough decisions that will need to be made.
Players like Tee Higgins, Jaxon Smith-Njigba or Brian Thomas Jr. will not be discussed. Yes, start them. You drafted them early for a reason! Instead, we are more concerned about the low-end WR2 or WR3 area where a player with a solid matchup should return value that is worth the start, and vice versa.
Now, labeling a player as a “sit” does not mean they are a must-sit player. As always, check out my weekly fantasy football rankings here. You can also become a member to join a group chat with me and other members where all fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em questions are welcomed!

Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em: Week 2 WRs
Start: Ricky Pearsall Fantasy Outlook at Saints
Zach Brunner’s Week 2 Fantasy Football Rankings
Kyle Shanahan finally gets to start Mac Jones, whom he wanted the team to draft previously. It makes sense, as Jones fits this offense of bland white quarterbacks well, including with his skill set. Look for him to deliver the ball on time and not force things. The number of healthy targets he has is limited, but Ricky Pearsall is a talented, reliable target for him. Last week, Pearsall led the team with 108 receiving yards.
Last week, the Saints allowed a 72.4% completion rate. Look for Mac Jones to get the ball out quickly for easy gains, delivering the ball often to Ricky Pearsall, Christian McCaffrey, and even the tight ends.
Start: DK Metcalf Fantasy Outlook vs Seahawks
Metcalf totaled 68 of his 83 receiving yards after the catch (YAC) in Week 1, after averaging just 18.7 YAC/game during his time with the Seahawks. The Steelers want to get him the ball in space much more. With an injured receiving corps, the San Francisco 49ers passed for 277 yards and two touchdowns last week, completing 74.3% of their passes. Look for Metcalf to get a few extra targets against his former team, and he will be motivated to make some plays after the catch as well.

Sit: Calvin Ridley Fantasy Outlook at Rams
Last week, Calvin Ridley had to face the Denver Broncos. As predicted, it was not a good performance. This week, he faces a Los Angeles Rams defense that held Nico Collins to 25 yards. So, if there is only one legitimate receiving threat, the Rams can shut them down. It looks like a similar matchup for them this week with Ridley and the Tennessee Titans.
I think the Calvin Ridley-Cam Ward connection will eventually wake up and lead to fantasy goodness. However, Week 2 is not the time. It is likely worth sitting him until we see some offensive success.
Sit: Jaylen Waddle Fantasy Outlook vs Patriots
In all actuality, you should put the entire passing offense of the Miami Dolphins on this side of the Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em. However, between Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, I think Hill demanding targets may actually lead to him getting more.
Regardless, the worst group on the field in NFL Week 1 was the Dolphins’ offense. The offensive line isn’t very good, and Tua Tagovailoa is worse. The vibes are bad, and playing badly is making them worse. Not only is this a dumpster fire, but the quiet Jaylen Waddle is simply getting lost in the mix. After watching last week’s game, you could tell me that Waddle was inactive, and I wouldn’t have disputed it.
In reality, he turned five targets into 30 yards against the Indianapolis Colts. This week, the matchup gets tougher against the New England Patriots. The defensive schedule and cornerbacks are both better, and it could be another ugly game. The floor for Waddle is literally zero, and you would be praying for a touchdown in order to be a worthwhile start. I wouldn’t bet on that.
