Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em: Week 15 TEs

Start: Dalton Schultz Fantasy Outlook vs Miami Dolphins

Fresh off a bye, Dalton Schultz will be a start this week. Schultz has been below average this season, but his last game out has given owners hope. He posted a line of five receptions for 61 yards and a touchdown, adding up to 17.1 points against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Schultz will find himself open this Sunday when he plays.

The Houston Texans host the Miami Dolphins this week. The Dolphins give up the 14th-most points to tight ends this season. In the last four games, they have given up over 19 fantasy points per game. Schultz should find himself in your lineup for this Sunday’s game.

Start: Zach Ertz Fantasy Outlook vs New Orleans Saints

The 12-year veteran will be a start for us this week. Zach Ertz has had a good three-game stretch for the Washington Commanders. In the three games before the bye week for the Commies, Ertz went for 18.7, 15.8 and 12.5 points. Each game was enhanced with a touchdown, so he could be a red zone target again this weekend.

The New Orleans Saints have injuries across the board. It seems that their only star player still available is Alvin Kamara, but Kamara can’t carry the Saints as a whole. New Orleans has been fairly good at stopping tight ends as they have allowed the 11th-fewest points per game. That on the surface seems good, but the Saints defense will be put in bad spots Sunday where Ertz can get into the end zone. Start Ertz for your matchup.

Sit: Kyle Pitts Fantasy Outlook vs Las Vegas Raiders

Why do we even try with this guy at this point? Kyle Pitts has been abysmal in this five-game stretch. He has scored less than five points in four of his last five games. Pitts has fallen out of favor in the Atlanta Falcons offense. Maybe, just maybe, Arthur Smith wasn’t the problem, Kyle Pitts fantasy owners.

On the flip side of the ball is the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders usually give up points to the tight end position (fourth-most this season). In the last four, they gave up over 16 points to tight ends. You are probably asking why you shouldn’t start Pitts in this scenario. I will ask you this back: do you trust the Falcons offense and Pitts in your lineup? If you don’t, bench Pitts.

Sit: Sam LaPorta Fantasy Outlook vs Buffalo Bills

The second-year tight end who has had a better second half of the season will be a sit for us this week. Sam LaPorta has turned his season around since the bye week. We wrote about LaPorta being TE17 several weeks back and now he has risen up to TE13 this season. In his eight games since the bye, only three have been below the 10-point threshold. LaPorta has been a dependable option for owners toward their playoff runs.

The Buffalo Bills, on the other hand, have been good at stopping tight ends this season. Buffalo gives up the fifth-fewest points to the position this year. Only two tight ends (Jonnu Smith and Noah Gray) have scored more than 10 points in their matchups. In the last four games, tight ends are only scoring two points per game. Matt Milano has returned to help Terrel Bernard in the middle of the field as well. Trust the Bills defense and put LaPorta on your bench.
