Week 14 fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em TE analysis from FlurrySports includes the likes of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Brenton Strange.
Streaming tight ends is a very popular way to play fantasy football. When doing this, though, you are most likely choosing between a couple of players to put into that spot. I am here to help you give an idea of who to choose using players who are in positions to succeed this week. Below, we will help you make those tough decisions in that tight end grey area, discussing our Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em players!
Guys like Trey McBride and Travis Kelce are not going to be covered in this article. Those guys are must-starts no matter who they play on any given week. They are just too good of players to sit. The idea is that we are taking those players who may be sitting on your bench as number two tight ends and making the decision. Get the idea?
Now, labeling a player as a “sit” does not mean they are a must-sit player. As always, check out our weekly fantasy football rankings here. You can also become a member to join a group chat with Zach Brunner, and other members, where all fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em questions are welcomed!

Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em: Week 14 TEs
Start: Brenton Strange Fantasy Outlook vs Colts
If you have been reading any of the FlurrySports content this week, Brenton Strange has become a familiar name. Marked as the number one streaming option at the tight end position, Strange is a “pick him up and start him” player, and he is also a “start” in the Week 14 Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em. Since returning from injury, Strange has put together two weeks in a row with weekly finishes of TE5. That includes going over 11 fantasy points in both games. In a loaded receiving room, Strange is quickly finding himself as Trevor Lawrence’s go-to guy, especially in the red zone.
That works out great this week as the Jacksonville Jaguars take on the Indianapolis Colts in a major AFC South matchup. Strange will continue to see usage in the pass game this week as the Colts give up the fourth-most fantasy points per game to tight ends, at 9.1. On the season as a whole, tight ends have recorded 865 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns against Indianapolis.
Start: Darren Waller Fantasy Outlook at Jets
Another player that we talked about when mentioning streaming options for the tight end position was Darren Waller for the Miami Dolphins. Waller, much like Strange, recently returned from injury. While the numbers were not great in his first week back, he did see a target in the red zone. Given the lack of explosiveness and play-making in this Miami receiving room, getting Waller back will be a huge boost to Tua Tagovailoa’s ability to control the ball. We saw Jonnu Smith become a league-winner last year with Mike McDaniel scheming up various plays in the red zone to get him the ball. Could the same thing be in the cards for Waller?
If so, that would start this week against the New York Jets. The Jets have been pretty middle of the pack when it comes to defending opposing tight ends, as they are giving up just 7.3 fantasy points per game to the position. The number that stands out, though, is the seven receiving touchdowns that they have given up to tight ends, which ranks as the third most this season. Two of those touchdowns came by way of Waller in his first game this season, so scoring touchdowns against the Jets is not a mystery to the big tight end.

Sit: Dallas Goedert Fantasy Outlook at Chargers
After starting the year on a tear at the tight end position through the first eight weeks, Dallas Goedert has come down to earth in a big way. As Jalen Hurts continues to make an effort to get AJ Brown involved in the receiving game, as well as Philadelphia getting healthier each week on the offensive side of the ball, Goedert’s usage has plummeted. Over the past three weeks, Goedert has recorded just two receptions in those games and has weekly finishes of TE32, TE34 and TE30. If you are someone who landed on Goedert after streaming the position to start the year, this is your sign to go somewhere else. As it stands, Goedert is closer to a droppable player than a startable player at this point in the season.
Things don’t get any easier for Goedert this week, as the Philadelphia Eagles take on the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday night. The Chargers have been fairly stingy against the tight end position this season, as they are giving up just six points per game to the position, with a bump in those points coming from the six touchdown receptions that they have given up. When looking at the yards given up, LA has only allowed 486 receiving yards to tight ends this year. With Saquon Barkley, AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith in the offense, on top of Jalen Hurts running, Goedert has quickly found himself the fifth option, at best, in a somewhat struggling Eagles offense.
Sit: Dalton Schultz Fantasy Outlook at Chiefs
After stinking up the place to start the season (one top-20 finish in the first four weeks), it looked like there was a concerted effort to get the ball into Dalton Schultz’s hands from CJ Stroud and the Houston Texans offense. That turned Schultz into a great streaming option when there have been matchups to exploit. The issue is Schultz has been so inconsistent that it is really hard to trust him on a week-to-week basis. He has as many top-10 finishes as he has bottom-23 finishes. I am expecting a lower finish closer this week, as the Texans take on a stingy Chiefs defense.
On the season, the Kansas City Chiefs are giving up just 5.4 fantasy points per game to tight ends. Extrapolated, those numbers come out to 581 receiving yards and just three touchdowns given up. Given the increased role of Jayden Higgins and the improved play of Nico Collins, on top of a run game that needs to be established and Schultz all of a sudden is the third option at best in a very tough game for the Texans. Look elsewhere if you can this week, as even in a down season, Kansas City still boasts one of the better defensive units in the entire NFL.
