Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em: Week 12 RBs

Start: David Montgomery Fantasy Outlook vs. Packers

With Khalil Herbert set to miss another game, David Montgomery sets up well to receive another 17-20 touches this week in a plus matchup against the Green Bay Packers, who are giving up 23.8 fantasy points per game (fppg) to opposing RBs. If Justin Fields plays, Montgomery becomes an even better play, as the Chicago Bears should find the running lanes easier to come by. But even if he doesn’t, Montgomery is a locked-in RB2 with RB1 upside. The last time these two teams met back in Week 2, Montgomery finished as the RB7, with 112 yards on the ground and two receptions for 14 yards.

This Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em views Montgomery as an obvious start in Week 13.

Start: Isiah Pacheco Fantasy Outlook vs. Bengals

Starting in Week 10, Isiah Pacheco has 16 carries for 82 yards, 15 carries for 107 yards and 22 carries for 69 yards, a touchdown and a catch for 17 yards last week. With that type of usage in a high-powered offense, Pacheco is looking like he is an every-week RB2, at least until Clyde Edwards-Helaire returns, and even then he might have seized the job for good. The matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals this week is not ideal, as they allow only 19.2 fppg to opposing RBs. But with a valuable role in this offense, he belongs in your lineup.

Sit: D’Andre Swift Fantasy Outlook vs. Jaguars

After starting the season with RB3 and RB7 performances in his first two games, D’Andre Swift has now not had 10+ since Week 8. Since he returned from injury in Week 8, Swift has had 10, five, seven, eight and nine touches each of the past five weeks. It is a credit to his skillset that he was able to finish inside RB2 range twice during this time.

As you jockey for fantasy football playoff position, you want your RB2 to have more usage than that. He is part of a three-man timeshare behind Jamaal Williams and battling with Justin Jackson. You can do better at RB2 rather than hoping for Swift to score a touchdown.

Sit: Devin Singletary Fantasy Outlook vs. Patriots

The Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots start the week off on Thursday night and Devin Singletary has a tough matchup in store against a Patriots team that is allowing only 14.2 fppg to opposing RBs (second-best number in the league). To make matters worse, Singletary has faced the Patriots five times and has only reached double-digits twice, although one was the last time they played. The only other time this season Singletary has faced a top-five fantasy defense against RBs was back in Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans when he had 4.2 fantasy points.

If you have another viable option at RB leave Singletary on your bench this week.
