Week 13 fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em WR analysis from FlurrySports includes the likes of Denver Broncos receivers Courtland Sutton and Troy Franklin.
Last week was a tough one. Was it the weather, or was it the fact that nearly half of the teams playing saw their backup quarterback take the field, while several starters played like backups themselves? Who knows. All I know is that Ja’Marr Chase is a liar, and we now have to go back and fact-check everything he has ever said. As a result, he is suspended this week, which could make your starting lineup a bit of a mess!
In this weekly Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em article, we will be talking about the WR2/3 grey area, where you may have some tough decisions that will need to be made. Players like Puka Nacua and Jaxon Smith-Njigba will not be discussed. Yes, start them. You drafted them early for a reason! Instead, we are more concerned about the low-end WR2 or WR3 area where a player with a solid matchup should return value that is worth the start, and vice versa.
Now, labeling a player as a “sit” does not mean they are a must-sit player. As always, check out my weekly fantasy football rankings here. You can also become a member to join a group chat with me and other members where all fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em questions are welcomed!

Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em: Week 13 WRs
Start: Courtland Sutton and Troy Franklin Fantasy Outlook at Commanders
Zach Brunner’s Week 13 Fantasy Football Rankings
Clearly, I think this could be a great get-right week for the Denver Broncos against the Washington Commanders, since I also have RJ Harvey as a “start” in the RB Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em. Now, let’s talk about the two top receivers for Denver.
Troy Franklin has been great in his second season. In fact, he leads the Broncos in targets, with 78. Over the past three games, he has a whopping 9.3 looks per game (targets + carries), per my Opportunity Index. Look for him to remain involved against a Commanders team that allows the most yards per play in the NFL (6.3).
While Franklin fantasy owners have been excited about his production, Courtland Sutton fantasy owners have had little to be thankful for this fantasy season. Compared to Franklin’s 9.3 looks in the past three games, Sutton has just 5.3, and it has resulted in just eight total receptions for only 113 yards. The Broncos’ offense has been bad, but they have spent the bye week figuring out how to get Sutton back involved, since his big-play ability is a jolt of energy this offense needs.
The Commanders have allowed a whopping 38 completions of 20+ yards this season. This is an area Courtland Sutton should be able to attack. Sutton had 17 catches of 20+ yards last year and 12 in 11 games this season. Look for him to get behind the defense at least once in this game, which is why he is a “start” in our Week 13 Thanksgiving Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em.
Start: Christian Watson Fantasy Outlook at Lions
While the Lions’ run defense is solid, their secondary is weak and has been banged up. They have allowed 37 passes of 20+ yards this season, and they also have allowed 8.2 yards per pass over the past three games. Just take a look at Wan’Dale Robinson’s 156-yard performance last week. Obviously, Watson is the deep threat for the Packers to take advantage of this weakness. Per my Opportunity Index, in his last four games, Watson has averaged five targets and 101 air yards per game. That’s an average depth of target of over 20 yards! Look for Christian Watson to catch at least one of those on Thanksgiving.

Sit: Michael Pittman Jr. Fantasy Outlook vs Texans
If you start an outside receiver against the Houston Texans, at this point, that’s on you. The Texans’ secondary has been playing so damn well, and Michael Pittman Jr. isn’t going to reverse this trend in Week 13, landing him on the “Sit” side of the Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em.
The Texans allow the fifth-fewest fantasy points to WRs this season. Since Pittman will run most of his routes on the outside, that means he will be going up against Derek Stingley Jr. and Kamari Lassiter. Those two have allowed an average of 35.4 and 34.1 yards per game, respectively. Pittman totaled four catches for 45 yards between the two matchups against Houston last year, and I expect another disappointing performance this time around.
Sit: Deebo Samuel Fantasy Outlook vs Broncos
A receiver against the Denver Broncos? This is where the analysis could end, but I will continue a little more, at least.
The Broncos will tee off on Marcus Mariota and a mediocre Washington Commanders offense in this game. Deebo Samuel should continue to operate as the WR1 for this offense, and it has resulted in him scoring in six different games this year! However, he has four games without touchdowns. In those games, he has finished above WR60 just once in PPR, and that was a WR39 finish. The Broncos had allowed just two receiving touchdowns to WRs all year long, and it is likely they head into Week 14 with that same number. The best fantasy defense against the WR position will show why they rank where they do.
