Two winless NFC teams will look to get off the schnide, when the Atlanta Falcons battle the New York Giants in Week 3. After both teams got blown out in their respective openers, at least they were able to be more competitive last week. A rest advantage and home field are likely two key factors in the home team being listed as NFL betting favorites ahead of this game.

The following Falcons vs Giants NFL betting preview will give you the current odds, betting trends, stream and picks for the Week 3 matchup.

    Atlanta Falcons Preview

After getting absolutely dismantled by the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1, the Falcons surprised several NFL betting analysts by playing the defending Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers tough this past week. Unfortunately, it only lasted for three quarters. Atlanta trailed by just a field goal entering the final frame, only to be outscored 20-0 and fail to cover the point spread as double-digit underdogs. Perhaps a date with a fellow struggling team will help the Falcons turn things around.

On a positive note, the Falcons were at least able to move the ball and put up some points in Week 2. Matt Ryan threw for 300 yards and a pair of touchdowns while Kyle Pitts, Calvin Ridley and Cordarrelle Patterson all had big days in the receiving department. That said, Ryan also threw three interceptions, two of which came in the fourth quarter and helped the Bucs to pull away. The defense held up for a time against the lethal Tampa Bay passing attack but faltered late. It was very similar to how Week 1 transpired for Atlanta’s defense. A lack of help from the offense might be more to blame than anything.

    New York Giants Preview

If not for a brutal offsides penalty on what turned out to be a missed field goal attempt, the Giants would have come out of their Week 2 Thursday night war with Washington as winners. Instead, the penalty gave the Football Team a do-over, and the second kick was true. A one-point loss dropped the Giants to 0-2 despite a strong game from QB Daniel Jones. He threw for 249 yards and a score and added another TD with his legs to go with a team-leading 95 yards rushing. Perhaps most importantly, Jones played a turnover-free game.

While uneducated Giants fans and members of the NFL betting public wanted to dog Jones once again after another loss, the real concern for New York after two weeks is the defense. The Giants quietly had one of the better units in the NFL a year ago. Now, they have been lit up by Teddy Bridgewater and Taylor Heinicke in consecutive weeks to begin the new season. If they allow Matt Ryan to do the same in Week 3, the alarm will really be sounding. The offensive line has also been heavily criticized but actually played very well last week. Hopefully, tailback Saquon Barkley will be able to take on more work going forward and help jump-start the ground game.
