The 2022 NBA Draft is set to take place on Thursday, June 23rd. Following the results of the NBA Draft Lottery, we now have a full picture of this year’s order of picks. There are plenty of quality prospects in this year’s NBA Draft class. Among the players projected to be drafted at some point in the First Round is Ohio State forward E.J. Liddell. The following is a complete E.J. Liddell draft profile including stats, highlights and an NBA Mock Draft projection.
E.J. Liddell NBA Draft Profile, Stats, Highlights and Projection
With a muscular and rugged frame, E.J. Liddell is capable of playing bigger than his actual size. He played at the center position on numerous occasions in college and could project as a small-ball center in the NBA as well. Liddell is one of the most versatile defenders in this year’s draft class. He made significant improvements as a perimeter defender from his sophomore to junior seasons. His versatility will give teams the peace of mind to have him switch on pick and rolls. On the offensive end, Liddell brings a number of post moves to the table. When facing up, he poses as a dual-threat given that he can both knock down mid-range jumpers and explode past defenders on the bounce.
Weaknesses
Although Liddell has the framework of being a solid offensive big, his tendency to dribble loosely in college could cost him at the next level. In addition to how he handles the basketball, he will also need to improve the quickness of his first step. As the featured scorer at Ohio State, Liddell sometimes would play his way into unwinnable situations. Following the 2022 NBA Draft, his new coaches will need to work with him on improving his decision-making and floor awareness.
