With the scouting combine in the rearview mirror and NFL Free Agency about to start, this is a great time for speculative dynasty fantasy football moves in anticipation of what the future holds. The idea, much like cryptocurrency, real estate or the stock market, is to buy low and sell high.

Here are a couple of dynasty fantasy football WRs to consider trading for or away to maximize your return on investment.

Dynasty Fantasy Football: Buy Low, Sell High WRs

Buy Low: D.J. Moore, Panthers

D.J. Moore was the WR18 in fantasy football last season, but he is still a buy-low candidate at just 24 years of age and entering the prime of his career. Last season, Moore finished with 237.5 PPR points, averaging 14 fantasy points per game (fppg) despite Carolina Panthers QB play that was dead last in the league for average team passer rating at a dreadful 68.5. He was able to achieve these numbers through elite target volume, as he finished sixth in the league with 167 targets, averaging 9.6 per game.

If the Panthers are able to get even the slightest improvement in QB play next season, Moore will be a WR1. While he likely won’t be cheap to acquire, his price looks low compared to his potential and you can possibly nab him from a dynasty fantasy football owner that might not be valuing him as highly as he should be. Use the narrative that the Panthers still don’t have a QB and see if you can acquire him on the cheap for an RB2.

Sell High: Brandin Cooks, Texans

A couple of spots below D.J. Moore on the end-of-season rankings at WR20, the Brandin Cooks fantasy outlook is not as bright at 28 years old with a very inconsistent season. Cooks put up 231.8 fantasy points, averaging 14.5 fppg across 16 games. He had a combination of Davis Mills and Tyrod Taylor combining to rank 25th with a team passer rating of 85.2. Cooks saw 134 targets on the season, an average of 8.4 per game, but was very inconsistent. He had eight games with double-digit PPR points and eight in the single digits.

Much like last season, the Texans will be behind a lot and thus will be looking to air it out plenty. But at this stage in his career with a rebuilding team, it is worth it to shop Cooks around. If you can find another owner in your league who views him as a WR2, it would be a great time to sell.
