A look at the Dillon Thieneman NFL Draft profile, including a scouting report, his college highlights and stats, and a mock draft projection.
A rare product of the Purdue to Oregon pipeline, Dillon Theineman entered college as a somewhat unheralded recruit before immediately becoming a star in college football. After two successful seasons at Purdue that included Second-team All-Big Ten and Third-team All-American honors, Thieneman transferred to Oregon, where he immediately became one of the best safeties in the country. Although he may not get the love and attention that players like Caleb Downs get, he is just as impressive a prospect. The Dillon Thieneman NFL Draft profile gives us a clear picture of what kind of player some team will get in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Dillon Thieneman Scouting Report
Strengths
The biggest plus in Dillon Thieneman’s scouting report is that he has the size and athleticism needed to play all around the field. While it wouldn’t be wise to put him in the slot, he can play basically anywhere you need him at safety. Some may not put as much stock into it, but his production at the collegiate level is something that certainly deserves respect.
He is a really smart player that also does a great job tracking the ball deep down field. For as much as he may struggle at times in run defense, he is great with play recognition and not falling into traps on play action or trick plays.
Weaknesses
Some of the biggest weaknesses from Thieneman come in his run support. While he has good straight line speed, his ability to change directions is not quite what you want at the NFL level. As a result of that, he can sometimes run himself into blocks or out of the play by taking a bad angle and not being able to adjust quick enough to changes of direction. When blockers get their hands on him, he often struggles to be able to get off those blocks which can sometimes make him a liability. While he’s decent in man coverage at the beginning of routes, he starts to lose his man quickly on more complex or longer developing routes as well.
