Deonte Banks Draft Profile

Strengths

Deonte Banks has good change-of-speed and does a good job ushering receivers out toward the sidelines. He does a great job communicating in zone when passing off assignments. While he may not have the stats or the film that many other defensive backs have in the draft, he is one of the most physically gifted 2023 NFL Draft prospects. He has blazing speed and a crazy vertical. Banks has all the physical attributes needed to make it at the NFL level.

Weaknesses

For as physically gifted as Banks is, he often appears unwilling to help in run support and has trouble getting off of blocks. He has had trouble multiple times at containing the run which was evident in Maryland’s loss at Michigan this year. Banks can get confused on crossing routes at times and is slow on anticipating route breaks. He is much more grabby than other defensive backs, even when it’s unnecessary to do so.
