Deion Burks Scouting Report
Strengths
Deion Burks brings a wealth of experience to the position after spending five years at the collegiate level. He possesses strong straight-line speed, as evidenced by his top-three 40-yard dash time among wide receivers at the NFL Combine. That speed translates to his ability to generate yards after the catch, turning short completions into bigger gains.
He is a decent route runner with disciplined footwork and fluid hips, allowing him to create separation on his breaks. Burks also shows a good feel for space against zone coverage and along the boundaries. Oklahoma frequently utilized him on designed touches to get the ball in his hands, and his combination of route-running ability and run-after-catch skill makes him a reliable option in the short-to-intermediate passing game.
Weaknesses
Despite his experience, Burks’ overall production does not fully match his physical tools. Expanding his route tree will be important for him to develop into a more versatile receiving threat at the next level. His lack of ideal size and catch radius can also limit his effectiveness in contested catch situations.
Additionally, there are times when his play speed does not fully align with his timed speed, particularly on deeper routes. His vertical impact remains somewhat limited, and his size may make it difficult for him to consistently operate on the outside against NFL defensive backs.
