DeAndre Hopkins Fantasy Breakdown
DeAndre Hopkins’ fantasy value has been sky high, and it will remain high, despite joining the Arizona Cardinals He will be joining Larry Fitzgerald and Christian Kirk to make a dangerous receiving corps for Kyler Murray.
Since 2015, Hopkins has been a top-five fantasy WR every year except 2016. He has put up massive numbers with a variety of passers and different offensive coordinators.
In 2015, Hopkins was the WR4 in PPR formats (while having Brian Hoyer as his QB most of the season)! During the 2016 season, he ranked as WR27, because he had to play with Brock Osweiler. In 2017, he had his most impressive season, finishing as the top-ranked WR, despite playing half of the season with Tom Savage. Now, he has been a top-five WR in back-to-back seasons, thanks to playing with Deshaun Watson.

DeAndre Hopkins Fantasy Outlook
All I have heard this offseason is that Hopkins won’t be the same player in Arizona as he was in Houston. Many rankings I have seen have him outside the top five at the WR position. Many think his targets will go down and that Murray’s accuracy is not as good as Watson’s. I believe the connection with Murray should be immediate, while improving as the year progresses.
What else does Hopkins have to do to prove he is an elite receiver that has succeeded with a variety of coordinators and even subpar quarterbacks?
Murray is not on the level of Watson yet, but he is better than almost every quarterback Hopkins has seen a pass from in his career. As stated above, Hopkins finished the 2015 season with then-career-highs in receptions (111), receiving yards (1,521) and touchdowns (11), despite playing with four different quarterbacks (Brian Hoyer, Ryan Mallett, T.J. Yates and Brandon Weeden). That was good enough for WR5.
He may not get as many targets in Arizona, but the offense is designed for him to make more with his opportunities. In the Cardinals offense, he should see more of an opportunity to increase his YAC. Hopkins had his lowest YPR last season, at 11.2, as shown above in his 2019 stats. This is a different offense but it is one where he will thrive. He is quarterback-proof and offense-proof, as he has proved year after year.
There should be no hesitation drafting him in the first round.

Hopkins’ current fantasy ADP in PPR formats is 2.07, or 19th overall, according to Fantasy Football Calculator. This is good for the fifth WR off the board. His ADP has been sliding all summer long. I would be thrilled to land Hopkins in the second round.
