Opportunity leads to productivity in fantasy football. When dealing with these committee backfields, the frustration is figuring out which players will have the most opportunity to succeed. In the case of the Los Angeles Rams backfield on Sunday Night Football, they gave us a pretty clear look into how they currently view their backfield. Because of this, the Darrell Henderson fantasy outlook should be high, while the Sony Michel fantasy owners may need to lower expectations.
Darrell Henderson Fantasy Outlook High After Dominating Snaps
The Rams took care of business against the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football, winning 34-14 and controlling the game throughout. The offense was also efficient, running only 52 plays the entire game. For Darrell Henderson fantasy owners, it was a solid performance, but it wasn’t one that blew anyone away.
Henderson took his 16 carries and ran for 70 yards and a touchdown. He also caught one pass for 17 yards. However, the most impressive stat is that he was on the field for 49 of his team’s 52 snaps. Michel took the other three snaps.
Does this mean Henderson is going to play 94% of the snaps this season? No, of course not. If he did, his 208-pound body would surely wear down. However, it does show the Rams view him as the top running back in this committee. While we could see Michel come in for short-yardage situations and steal a couple of touchdowns, it looks to be Henderson that will control the backfield.
We must also remember his Week 1 matchup was against a tough Bears defense. His 16 carries will be more meaningful in the future.
