The second game of Saturday’s NFL doubleheader features a pair of bitter NFC East Division rivals. That being said, both teams have plenty to play for in terms of seeding on Saturday night. As a result, the NFL betting odds have held fairly steady for this Cowboys vs Eagles showdown. The visitors are currently favorites when it comes to NFL picks against the spread.

Dallas Cowboys Preview

The Cowboys had a four-game winning streak snapped last week. A narrow three-point home loss to the Arizona Cardinals also ended any chance Dallas had of tracking down the 1-seed in the NFC Playoffs. They could now wind up as high as the 2-seed or as low as the 4-seed depending on the results of their own Week 18 game and others to be played on Sunday. The Cowboys are a perfect 5-0 against NFC East Division opponents and have a chance to complete season-sweeps of each of their three rivals entering Saturday’s NFL betting matchup.

While the Cowboys’ offense has been the subject of scrutiny this week, such “hot takes” are extremely short-sighted. It was just two weeks ago that Dak Prescott threw for 330 yards and four touchdowns as Dallas hung 56 on Washington. Struggling against a desperate Cardinals’ team last week was actually expected by some NFL betting analysts given the urgency Arizona had to snap a three-game skid. While the backfield duo of Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard is banged-up, but both should be active for Saturday’s game. Although star corner Trevon Diggs may not be available, the Eagles’ passing attack doesn’t exactly pose a huge threat.

Philadelphia Eagles Preview

After clinching an unlikely playoff berth last week, the Eagles will now look to exact some revenge on the rival Cowboys after losing the first meeting between the teams this season. Philadelphia comes in riding a four-game winning streak. They have won six of seven overall dating back to mid-November. The Eagles have a chance to improve their playoff seeding with a win and favorable results elsewhere on Sunday. In a way, this is a completely different offense than the one Dallas faced back in September. Coach Nick Sirianni has completely retooled things to play to his team’s strengths in the weeks since. It is very unlikely that Philly will only have 12 rushing attempts in Saturday’s NFL betting matchup.

With Miles Sanders already having been ruled out, the trio of QB Jalen Hurts and RBs Boston Scott and Jordan Howard will be the primary ball-carriers. While Dallas boasts the top adjusted defense in the NFL, they have been vulnerable when it comes to stopping the run. Speaking of defensive play, the Eagles have been one of the best scoring defenses in the league this season. However, they only rank 16th in overall adjusted efficiency and are 21st against the pass. Philadelphia has also been one of the worst defenses when it comes to defending the tight end position all season. That could spell trouble in this matchup knowing the rapport Prescott has with Dalton Schultz.
