America’s Team continues to secure their defense during NFL Free Agency. The Dallas Cowboys have signed Damontae Kazee, adding another safety to the roster. They also continue to pick through their unrestricted free agents.

Here is what Dallas has done since last week.

Cowboys Sign Damontae Kazee in Free Agency

Former Atlanta Falcons Safety Damontae Kazee signed a one-year deal with Dallas on Monday. The deal gave Kazee a signing bonus of $137,500, according to ESPN. Kazee is guaranteed $250,000 of his $990,000 salary as well.

It’s worth noting that Kazee is coming off of a season-ending Achilles injury. In fact, Kazee was playing after two of the Falcons starting safeties were out with injuries early last season. One of those safeties being another recently signed Dalals Cowboy, Keanu Neal. Meaning both players will be very familiar with Dallas’ new Defensive Coordinator Dan Quinn.

I don’t think this won’t be the end of the Safety discussion in Dallas either. As we have noted, the Cowboys could very-well draft a safety during the 2021 NFL Draft. In fact, if Dallas really wanted to continue to securing their defense, this move could be beneficial to them in the long-run.

Xavier Woods’ Departure

Late last week, it was announced that safety Xavier Woods would be singing a one-year deal with the Minnesota Vikings.

Woods was drafted by the Cowboys during the 2017 NFL Draft during the sixth round. He became a starting safety during the 2018 season.

Unrestricted Free Agents Still in Dallas… For Now

As the Cowboys continue to secure their defense, there are still plenty of offseason decisions to make.

Here are the free agents left in Dallas to keep an eye on during the rest of the FA period:

  • LB Sean Lee
  • DE Aldon Smith
  • LB Justin March
  • C Joe Looney
  • OT Jordan Mills

We heard Dallas Cowboys Head Coach discuss both LB Sean Lee and DE Aldon Smith at last week’s press conference. As of right now, there is still no update on either player and what the future hold for them during the 2021 NFL season.
