Courtland Sutton’s 2023 NFL season got off to a sour start with two games where he scored under 13.3 PPR fantasy points. However, he has shown improvement with some sweet performances, reaching 14.5 or more PPR points in three of his games since Week 3. It is important to approach Week 8 with caution if you are a Courtland Sutton fantasy football owner.
Courtland Sutton Fantasy Owners Should Be Cautious in Week 8
In Week 6 against the Chiefs, Sutton had a decent performance, recording four receptions for 46 yards and a touchdown, resulting in 14.6 PPR fantasy points. He has often relied on touchdowns to boost his weekly fantasy value as he has scored a touchdown in four of his last five games, especially considering that no Broncos wide receiver has surpassed 80 receiving yards in the last four games. Additionally, Sutton has not been targeted frequently, with no more than six targets in his last four games.
The Chiefs’ defense has been very decent against wide receivers lately, with four of their last five games not featuring a wideout who exceeded 65 receiving yards. Sutton stands out as the only WR1 who managed to score a touchdown in the last three games against the Chiefs. However, the Chiefs have contained top receivers like Justin Jefferson, who played the majority of the game before suffering the hamstring injury, and Keenan Allen to low stat lines, averaging 3.5 receptions for 41.5 yards, zero touchdowns, and 7.6 PPR fantasy points.

While Sutton had a decent showing against the Chiefs just two weeks ago, it’s important to note that he relied on a touchdown to salvage his performance. Given the Chiefs’ recent strong defense against wide receivers, it might be unwise to expect lightning to strike twice in this divisional matchup.
