As the calendar ushers in a new year, more and more eyes will gradually shift to college basketball. While March Madness remains several months away, the start of conference play is sure to intensify the action. Bill Walton Returns to ESPN College Basketball Airwaves
Having starred at UCLA as a player, Bill Walton is synonymous with being on the call for games involving Pac-12 Conference teams. Or, as Walton himself would call it, “The Conference of Champions.” Unfortunately, the vast majority of college basketball fans were unable to watch him during the fall portion of the 2021-22 schedule as all of his games were broadcast on the Pac-12 Network.
Now, if you didn’t know there was such a thing, you probably aren’t alone. It’s rare that you will find someone who actually has access to the network. The TV debacle is just one of several poor business decisions made by the Pac-12 Conference in recent years. But fear not, for Bill Walton is finally back on the ESPN college basketball airwaves!
Whether it was rubbing dirt all over himself, changing his shirt on live TV or feeding the Oregon Duck popcorn, Walton always finds a way to deliver. Personally, none of his previous hijinks can top the time he ate tried to one throat an entire cupcake, lit candle and all!
2022 ESPN Bill Walton College Basketball Broadcast Schedule
This past Sunday’s game between Texas and Stanford in Las Vegas marked Bill Walton’s season debut on the ESPN networks. With the Pac-12 conference season looming, college basketball fans will have plenty of opportunities to enjoy Walton on commentary in the coming months. While the “Big Red-Head” is scheduled to call some more games on the obscure Pac-12 Network, the majority of his conference games will be on ESPN networks. He will also be courtside in Las Vegas to call the Pac-12 Conference Tournament in March.
