When is the 2026 NFL Draft?

The 2026 NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday, April 23, beginning at 8 p.m. ET. The draft will take place in Pittsburgh, PA. Only Round 1 will take place on Thursday. Rounds 2-3 will take place on April 24th, with the remaining four rounds wrapping up on Saturday, April 25th. There will be 257 players selected across the seven rounds, with many more getting phone calls immediately afterward.

Colton Hood Scouting Report

Strengths

If Colton Hood has one part of his game that could immediately translate to the NFL, it’s his ability as the outside corner in press coverage. He does a good job waiting on the receiver to make the first move and not giving them an easy out. He jams the receiver early, which allows him to stay right in their pocket for the beginning of the route. Hood also has a knack for getting a great break on receivers running out routes as well. On top of his play in the passing game, he also does a better job than expected in run defense, even against bigger running backs.

Weaknesses

Unfortunately, Hood is very grabby when there is a play to be made on the ball. While most players have this problem at the collegiate level, Hood’s grabbiness goes further than that of the average cornerback prospect. When a jump ball is in his area, he is often locked in more on the receiver than the ball, which limits his ability to grab interceptions or break up passes before it hits the receiver’s hands. While he is a good athlete, he doesn’t quite have the acceleration and change of direction speed needed for the faster receivers at the NFL level. He could get lost on double moves and be blown by receivers that have blazing speed off the line.
