The Week 6 slate of the college football season has several intriguing games and storylines. Three games feature two teams ranked in the top-25, including a matchup between 4th-ranked Florida and 21st-ranked Texas A&M. The matchup carries great weight for both teams with regard to their respective divisional races in the SEC. For Texas A&M, it’s another opportunity against a top-10 team at home and one that certainly feels like a must-win with the Aggies losing to Alabama last week. With expert money coming in on the underdog and a total that has seen plenty of movement, Saturday’s showdown between the Gators and Aggies has earned the nomination as this week’s College Football Picks Spotlight Game.

With both teams needing a win to keep pace in the SEC standings, you can be assured that the heat will be turned up at Kyle Field on Saturday, even with the game kicking off at 11 a.m. local time. Florida and Texas A&M both bring experienced quarterbacks to the table, leading many experts to believe points will be scored in bunches.

The point spread for the game seems to slowly but surely be attracting more sharp money on Texas A&M, evidenced by the extra juice on the Aggies at +7 (-120) in the MyBookie odds. A quick scan of the Las Vegas betting market shows that this game has already moved to Florida -6.5, with a number of Florida -6 lines also showing up at the time of this writing. The total for the game has seen heavy expert College Football picks traffic on the over throughout the week. After opening at 54.5, MyBookie currently has the over/under set at 58.5. The Las Vegas market has seen a little under buyback to an even 58.

    Florida Gators Overview

Dan Mullen continues to build up his brand as a quarterback whisperer, thanks to the impressive play of Kyle Trask. Trask has thrown 10 touchdown passes in just two games on the young 2020 season. He has piled up 684 yards passing and has looked every bit the part of a generational talent at the position. NFL scouts, take note. Along with Mullen’s current QB in Gainesville, transfer Feleipe Franks is also playing very well at Arkansas so far this season.

Highest passer rating among SEC QBs this week:

    1. Matt Corral, Ole Miss – 152.2
    2. Mac Jones, Alabama – 138.4
    3. Kyle Trask, Florida – 126.1
    4. Feleipe Franks, Arkansas – 117.0 pic.twitter.com/TePyIxYesA

Trask’s game certainly is helped by the bevy of talented wideouts the Gators bring to the table. Of course, Trask’s favorite target of all is tight end Kyle Pitts, who has 12 receptions through the first two games. After surrendering 435 yards and 4 touchdowns to Mac Jones and the Alabama passing attack last week, the expert College Football picks are assuming Texas A&M will have a tough time slowing down the Gators attack. Defensively, Florida’s numbers have regressed from a season ago. They come in giving up 5.85 yards per play and 29.5 points per game over the first two. Florida did hold South Carolina down in last week’s 38-24 win, a game that wasn’t nearly as close as the final score indicated. They’ll look to bring a similar effort and continue to improve against the Aggies this week.

    Texas A&M Aggies Overview

Despite being the SEC’s most experienced quarterback in terms of playing time entering the season, Kellen Mond has been far from the conference’s best through the first two weeks of SEC play. Mond comes into Saturday’s matchup against Florida with a completion percentage of just 58.3%, 507 yards passing, and 4 touchdowns. Like Trask, Mond’s favorite target through the first two games has been his tight end as Jalen Wydermyer leads all Aggies with 10 receptions. Pass-catching back Ainias Smith leads the team in receiving yards (150) and his versatility has been a big part of the Aggies offense in the first two games.

Defensively, it all figures to come down to what success (if any) Texas A&M can generate in getting after Kyle Trask. The secondary is simply not talented enough to hold up against Florida’s prolific passing offense. The Aggies’ ability to generate pressure and force Trask to speed up his reads and decision-making could be the key to this week’s College Football Picks Spotlight Game. No amount of pressure will stifle Florida for a full 60 minutes though, meaning Mond and the offense will need to produce more points than they have in each of A&M’s first two games.
