Heading into Week 16, the Colby Parkinson fantasy football outlook is high at the tight end position.
One of the toughest positions to figure out year in and year out in fantasy football is the tight end position. While the “elite” options like Trey McBride and Brock Bowers certainly have value, the “rest” of the tight ends can often be inconsistent at best. With tight end being one of the more crucial positions due to being more likely to put up “dud” performances, it’s important to fill the position with the right player.
At the current moment, the Colby Parkinson fantasy outlook is just as high as any player you could pick up off the waiver wire.
Tyler Higbee Injury Update
Coming into the season, few people even glanced Parkinson’s way, especially with Tyler Higbee sitting at the top of the depth chart. While there has been some discussion about when Higbee could return, with the Los Angeles Rams’ short week and Thursday night matchup, head coach Sean McVay has already stated that Higbee would not be available for Week 16.
This will be Higbee’s fifth straight missed game, and with the way Parkinson has been playing and how he has earned the trust of quarterback Matthew Stafford, Terrance Ferguson provides little to no threat to Parkinson either. With a big matchup on the road against the Seattle Seahawks on deck and with Davante Adams’ status up in the air, it’ll be all hands on deck for the Rams’ passing attack. That is exactly what Colby Parkinson fantasy owners want to hear.
Colby Parkinson Fantasy Outlook: Smash Start for Week 16
Since Week 10, Colby Parkinson has been on an absolute tear. In those six weeks, he has finished as TE10 or better five times. In addition, outside of a Week 11 matchup with Seattle that saw him draw just two targets, he has seen four or more targets in each of his five matchups, averaging over five targets per game. Last week against the Detroit Lions, Parkinson played a season-high 86% of offensive snaps and also had a season-high seven targets.
The most impressive thing about Parkinson’s recent run of form hasn’t been his growing role or the trust earned from Stafford, but from his knack for finding the end zone. In the last six games, he has totaled six touchdowns, finding the end zone in five games. With how volatile the tight end position can be, any player who can find the end zone consistently is instantly one of the best at the position from week to week. Now, with the possibility of Davante Adams missing Week 16 against Seattle, Parkinson could find even more involvement not only in the passing game in general, but in the red zone as well. While it is not a guarantee he will find the end zone this week or over the rest of the season, he has as good a chance as any tight end in all of fantasy, making him a great pickup for the playoffs.

Fantasy Football Players to Drop for Colby Parkinson
Mark Andrews, Baltimore Ravens
If you still are holding onto Mark Andrews for the fantasy football playoffs, it’s time to cut your losses now. Last week, he faced off against the Cincinnati Bengals and their defense that ranks dead last against tight ends. All that Andrews got was two catches on three targets for 18 yards in a game where he only played 41% of the snaps. If he can’t do anything against this Bengals defense, there is very little, if any, hope for him with a much better New England Patriots defense on deck in Week 16.
Hunter Henry, New England Patriots
While I certainly understand why people like Hunter Henry, his production is much too unpredictable to rely on. While he is TE9 on the year, he has three games in which he’s finished as TE10 or higher. Conversely, he has seven games where he has finished as TE20 or lower and four games finishing as TE30 or lower. Henry is the definition of a boom-or-bust player, and he has been a “bust” much more than he’s been a “boom.” With such a low floor, even when he’s getting a fair amount of targets, he isn’t worth the headache.
Tyler Warren, Indianapolis Colts
This one may be soundly rejected by name value alone, but when you look at the numbers, Tyler Warren has not only been less than good, he’s been bad since Week 7. Up through Week 7, Warren had five weeks as a TE10 or better and only one week below TE11. Since then, his production has fallen off a cliff. In the seven weeks since, Warren has had one game as a TE10 or better and has had three weeks as TE29 or lower. Even with averaging almost seven targets a game in his last six games, the production just isn’t coming for Warren.
With a much past his prime Philip Rivers at quarterback and the Colts looking to lean on their running game, Warren is no longer even close to being the plug-and-play tight end he was earlier this year.
