Kansas City Chiefs Preview
The Chiefs came away from their Week 6 victory over the Washington Football Team with plenty of positives. Most notably, the defense held Washington to just 13 points. Keep in mind that this was a unit that came into last week’s game allowing over 32 points per game and ranked dead last in adjusted defensive efficiency. Even with star pass-rusher, Chris Jones sidelined, Kansas City was able to put together their best defensive effort of the season thus far. They’ll need to be even sharper in Sunday’s NFL betting matchup if they hope to slow down the potent Titans’ offense.
On offense, the Chiefs played their first game without lead RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire last week. Darrel Williams filled in admirably, scoring a pair of touchdowns in the win. Patrick Mahomes threw all over the Washington defense, finishing with 397 yards passing and two touchdowns. He did, however, throw two more interceptions. Turnovers have been a big problem for Mahomes this season. In a game where both defenses may struggle to get stops, it will be paramount for him to take better care of the football.
Tennessee Titans Preview
After last Monday’s game, it isn’t an exaggeration to say that the Titans’ offense is carried by one man. Of course, that man is running back Derrick Henry. He stampeded all over a strong Buffalo Bills defense last week, finishing with 143 rushing yards and three touchdowns. The season is only six games old, but Henry already has nearly 800 yards rushing. His quest for back-to-back 2,000-yard rushing seasons is off to a blistering start. Thanks to his most recent performance, the NFL betting underdog Titans were able to upset the Bills in front of a primetime audience.
Unfortunately, Tennessee’s Week 6 win did come at a cost. Star offensive tackle Taylor Lewan was carted off with an injury and has been ruled out for Sunday’s contest. Joining him in exiting Monday’s game early were cornerback Caleb Farley and wideout Julio Jones. The former is done for the season with an ACL tear and the latter is questionable to play this week. The injury to Farley could prove extremely detrimental in this week’s NFL betting matchup against the Chiefs. The Titans’ defensive secondary was thin on talent, to begin with. The last thing they can afford is to lose their starters ahead of a game against the star-studded Chiefs. Expect the Titans to once again lean on Henry and try to keep the ball away from the K.C. offense as much as possible.
