Rome Odunze Scouting Report

Strengths

Rome Odunze looks the part of an NFL WR1. He possesses the frame, strength, and body control to be a tough cover for almost every cornerback. Odunze is a physical presence with a wide wingspan and the ability to win contested catch situations.

With above-average route running skills and good fluidity, Odunze has a strong ability to create separation and get open. He has enough speed to sell vertical routes, but can also smoothly change directions and find open space. We also saw his work ethic on full display at the NFL Combine, when he stayed later than everyone to get a time he wanted on one of the drills.

Weaknesses

Although Odunze is a fluid athlete and good playmaker, he can sometimes struggle with physicality and technique at the line of scrimmage. There’s room for improvement with his initial release and hand combat at the line of scrimmage.

What to Expect From Rome Odunze in 2024

Odunze is an NFL ready receiver from day one thanks to his frame. He stands at 6’3″ and has the mass and athleticism to impact games as a rookie. Coupled with that, his ability to create space allows him to produce at all three levels. He should also have some pressure taken off of him considering the Bears already have Moore and Allen, meaning he could see some favorable coverages.
