Cashius Howell Scouting Report
Strengths
Cashius Howell’s production speaks for itself as a pass rusher. He combines burst and flexibility to consistently threaten the edge, profiling as one of the more dynamic pure pass rushers in this draft class. He shows a variety of effective rush moves, including a strong spin counter that allows him to recover when his initial path is disrupted.
He also demonstrates a good understanding of how to attack tackles, often maintaining proper spacing to avoid being controlled by longer linemen. His speed and quickness allow him to penetrate the backfield and disrupt plays, and he shows the ability to change direction and pursue from behind.
Weaknesses
Despite his effectiveness as a pass rusher, Howell’s overall game remains somewhat limited. He struggles at the point of attack against the run and can be overpowered by stronger offensive linemen. Improving his technique, strength, and decisiveness as an edge setter will be critical if he is to develop into an every-down player.
From a technical standpoint, his hand usage remains inconsistent and will need refinement at the next level. He also has a tendency to drop his head at the point of contact, which negatively impacts both his vision and overall control as a rusher.
