With the 65th pick in the NFL, the Arizona Cardinals selected Miami’s Carson Beck to join what looks like one of the worst quarterback rooms in the NFL. Beck comes into the NFL after passing for 3,813 yards and 30 touchdowns in his senior season, leading the Hurricanes all the way to the National Championship.

Beck now joins a quarterback room that includes Jacoby Brissett, who is going through contract negotiations, Gardner Minshew and Kedon Slovis. After Kyler Murray moved to Minnesota for the upcoming season, all of a sudden, it appears that the starting quarterback position is up for grabs in Arizona, especially with first-year head coach Mike LaFleur in charge. While drafting Beck initially seemed like a developmental selection, Brissett’s contract situation may thrust Beck into a larger role immediately.

While he seemed to be somewhat of an afterthought when drafted, all of a sudden, a mysterious quarterback room could propel Beck to seeing the field much sooner. Where should you draft Carson Beck in dynasty fantasy football rookie drafts? We will take a closer look below, and you can also see where he is ranked in our dynasty fantasy football rookie rankings!

Carson Beck Dynasty Fantasy Football Projection

Year 1 Value For Carson Beck Fantasy Owners

It is no secret that the Arizona Cardinals need help at the quarterback position. Before drafting Beck, the Cardinals’ quarterback room featured two career backups in Brissett, who played well in relief of Murray last season, and Minshew, who has shown flashes of excellence. Even though both players are serviceable, there was no future plan at the position with these two. Now, after drafting Beck, it appears LaFleur may have another factor to consider when planning for the future.

The biggest news coming out of the Cardinals’ building right now is Brissett’s “holdout” as the veteran is looking for a multi-year deal and to be paid like an NFL starting quarterback. Given his 3,366-yard, 23-touchdown season, it is fair for him to ask for the money he deserves, but until that deal is figured out, opportunities are open for the other quarterbacks on the roster. That is where Beck comes into play. With OTAs starting and Brissett not in the building, Beck will see very early work, which will help to kickstart his introduction to the NFL.

At 24 years old and playing at a high level of college football during his years at both Georgia and Miami, Beck is not your average rookie. While the Brissett contract situation will likely work itself out, making him the starting quarterback, how long will it take before Beck’s name is being brought up in a possible starter change, especially if the Cardinals struggle out of the gates? With the Chargers, Seahawks and 49ers to start the year, there is a good chance that the Cardinals start the season 0-3.

Carson Beck Dynasty Fantasy Football Value

In a superflex fantasy football format, Beck is a very intriguing option if you are looking for quarterback depth. Spending a third-round pick on him, it is not like the Cardinals picked him with a throw-away late-round pick. A third-round pick on a quarterback is notable for any franchise. Nevertheless, a franchise that needs help at the position.

As a team, the Cardinals don’t sport a great roster, but as far as fantasy football goes, there is potential for a lot of points. Beck steps into a position where, if he does start, he will have Jeremiyah Love, Trey McBride, Marvin Harrison Jr. and Michael Wilson at his disposal. While Beck certainly has a way to go to be a quality starting quarterback in the NFL, having a wide array of weapons at his disposal will help to make up for those errant throws and mistakes.

Beck is not going to offer much in the rushing department, but he has shown to be a very capable passer. Add to the fact that Beck has started 43 games over his career against SEC and ACC opponents, including a National Championship, and he comes into the NFL with as good an experience as anyone in this year’s class. Measuring in at 6-5, 233 lbs, Beck has great size for a quarterback.

As stated before, Arizona has a tough start to their schedule in 2026. Add to the fact that they play in the NFC West, and it is hard to believe that they will sport a competitive record, meaning that the team may be inclined to see what they have out of their rookie quarterback sooner rather than later in his career. Meaning that if Beck can impress, Arizona will elect to choose him as the next leader of the franchise.

Where to Draft Carson Beck in Dynasty Rookie Drafts

As always, I need to preface that you should always look at what you need on your team and weigh that with what you think that player’s fantasy value is. So, if you need a running back and you are sitting at the 1.04, taking a player like Jadarian Price or Jonah Coleman ahead of guys like Fernando Mendoza or Makai Lemon is not a crazy thing to do.

With that being said, Beck’s current ADP in rookie drafts has him sitting around the 30th player taken, meaning he is going anywhere in the third round. When looking at the rookie quarterback class, outside of Fernando Mendoza and probably Ty Simpson, there is no quarterback who is likely to see playing time sooner than Beck. If you need quarterback help, Beck certainly needs to be on your draft board.

If you need quarterback help, drafting Beck with a late second-round and even early third-round pick is completely worth the risk. Watch the news on the Brissett contract situation, because if he does agree to a new deal with Arizona, Beck’s ADP will drop. If that is the case, you absolutely need to jump on that. Either way, barring a miraculous season from Arizona this season, Beck should at least see some field time.

Could Beck be this season’s Tyler Shough? I don’t see why not.
