When the puck drops on Canadiens vs Devils on Sunday night, it will be like each team is looking in a mirror. This game features two bad teams with goalies who have not played much or played well this season. The saving grace in this game is the explosive talent both rosters have at the forward position. It will certainly be a chance for the young superstars to shine.

Let’s take a look at the NHL betting odds, trends and picks for the game and give our Canadiens vs Devils prediction.

Canadiens vs Devils NHL Betting Preview and Stream

NHL Regular Season
Montreal Canadiens (17-37-10, 8-18-6 Away) vs. New Jersey Devils (23-36-5, 15-14-3 Home)
Date: Sunday, March 27, 2022
Time: 7:00 p.m. EST
Venue: Prudential Center – Newark, NJ
Coverage: ESPN+

Goaltending: MTL: Sam Montembeault (3.71/.894 – Expected) | NJ: Jon Gillies (3.29/.887 – Expected)

The combined win total in this Canadiens vs Devils game is just 41. Both teams have been brutal on the road, with a combined 16-41-8 record away from home ice. The Devils carry the advantage in this area tonight as they are the home team and have managed to stay one game above .500 at the Prudential Center.

This is either going to be a sloppy, ugly and tough-to-watch hockey game, or it will be an offensive onslaught in which the goaltenders are simply outmatched.

Scoring props are your friend tonight. The two players to watch in this game are both young up-and-coming superstars in Jack Hughes and Cole Caufield. Both have been on a tear in the back half of the season and will likely get on the score sheet in more than one way this evening. While we give the advantage to the Devils in the game, Montreal is going to be able to put the puck in the net at a good rate.

Both teams are going to want to do everything they can to stay out of the penalty box tonight. If the offense gets rolling, we could see high rates of success with the extra man involved.

Canadiens vs Devils Prediction

Despite their record, the Devils are actually one of the best bad teams in the NHL right now. They lose a ton of games, but they always seem to keep it close or make some sort of comeback by the end. Beyond Hughes, they have more guys who can create opportunities and get points than the Canadiens do. In fact, the Devils have six guys with more points than Montreal’s second-leading scorer.

While it is understandably difficult to lay -180 with the Devils, they are the likely winner in this game.

As mentioned, you can find some great value in the scoring props of this game. A parlay of Hughes and Caufield to each record one point pays +120. Both players are also plus money to score a goal, which means if you bet both, all you need to do is hit one and you’re in the green. We like both Hughes (+120) and Caufield (+190) to score tonight.

Our NHL betting Canadiens vs Devils prediction tonight will be Hughes/Caufield 1+ Point at BetUS.

For what it’s worth, numberFire gives the Devils a 52.6% chance to win.

Bet: Hughes/Caufield to Score
