Buccaneers vs Packers NFL Playoffs Overview

These are two very different teams than we saw meet in Week 6 down in Tampa Bay, though the first meeting is still worth noting. The Packers jumped out to an early 10-0 lead entering the second quarter. Then, a pick-six thrown by Aaron Rodgers unraveled everything. Green Bay would fail to score again, losing 38-10.

Since then, Antonio Brown has made his impression on the Buccaneers offense, finally finding a groove. However, he will be inactive, due to a knee injury. While he is out, Tampa surprisingly gets tough run stopper Vita Vea back from IR. He was a big reason why Tampa’s run defense was so stout early on, and his return is welcomed in this matchup. Offensively, Tom Brady is no stranger to the cold. Though, some of his playmakers are. With no Brown on the field and Mike Evans likely getting locked up by Jaire Alexander again, Chris Godwin and Rob Gronkowski will need to make their presence known, as will the running game.

Rodgers and the Packers offense is clicking on all cylinders. Facing the league’s top defense last week, the offense put up 32 points with ease and the offensive line dominated the Los Angeles Rams’ front at the point of attack. This allowed Aaron Jones to run for 99 yards, and it kept Rodgers off the grass. In the first meeting against Tampa, Jones ran for only 15 yards on 10 carries. If the Packers offensive line continues their dominance, that will be a major difference maker. Defensively, the Packers have held opponents under 20 points in five of their last six games.

While Mike Evans is getting 17.5 yards here, Davante Adams will still win this matchup with ease. Evans has never played a game under 30 degrees, while Adams thrives in cold temperatures. Evans gets matched up against Jaire Alexander. When these teams met in Week 6, Evans had one catch for 10 yards. It was Adams’ first game back from injury and he wasn’t 100 percent. Yet, he finished with 61 yards in a game where Rodgers struggled.

Buccaneers vs Packers Prediction | NFC Championship

Cold and a chance of snow at Lambeau Field in January? This will be a fun game to watch.

While the Buccaneers got a win over a well-round New Orleans Saints team last week, Tampa’s offense was by no means dominant. In fact, they were below average. The Packers defense is not as good as the Saints’, but they have played better, have a pass rush and a true lock down cornerback. Can an inconsistent running game, Godwin and Gronkowski do enough to win this game? I don’t think so.

The Packers’ offense is doing absolutely anything they please, and it’s because of the offensive line. Tampa’s defense depends on getting pressure on the quarterback. Rodgers was under pressure nine plays last week and eight times the game prior. Those were against the Rams and Chicago Bears, respectively, who are scarier than the Buccaneers.

Rodgers will have time to throw yet again, the Packers will continue to score and Brady’s tantrums will not be enough to ignite the Tampa offense.
