We all know the name Josh Gordon. The infamous “Flash,” whose career has been full of controversy. Today, the Cleveland Browns finally decided to part ways with the troubled receiver. The Browns have made the decision to move forward after giving Gordon multiple chances to make his mark in Cleveland.

John Dorsey Breaks the News

Gordon was battling a hamstring injury, which made him inactive this Sunday against the New Orleans Saints. Just hours after being declared out, Cleveland Browns’ GM  released a statement regarding this situation; ” For the past six years, the Browns have fully supported and invested in Josh, both personally and professionally and wanted the best for him, but unfortunately we’ve reached a point where we feel it’s best to part ways and move forward. We wish Josh well.” The Cleveland Browns have supported him through suspension, substance abuse, and controversy.

Josh Gordon will be a free agent on Monday once his release becomes official. That is, of course, unless he is traded before then.

There seems to be a lot of mystery surrounding this Browns decision. As for Gordon, we have to wonder what possible landing spots are available for him.

New England Patriots

The obvious need for the Patriots at the wide receiver position makes this a possible landing spot for Gordon. Tom Brady’s accuracy combined with Gordon’s speed can significantly improve the already strong Patriots offense.

Oakland Raiders

Oakland’s offense has struggled in the beginning of the season. Amari Cooper has not been able to find that chemistry with Derek Carr. The addition of Jordy Nelson in the offseason has not paid off for Gruden as expected. They recently re-signed Martavis Bryant to attempt and resolve this issue. I can see Gruden giving Gordon a shot on his newly acquired Oakland Raiders team.

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys have struggled on offense. I know it is early, but the mediocrity at the receiver position is obvious. The addition of an athletic outside receiver, like Gordon, could rejuvenate this group.

This is a situation that caught everyone off guard. There’s many moving pieces right now, so make sure to follow FlurrySports on Twitter to not miss a thing.
