Brian Branch Draft Profile

Strengths

Brian Branch is a versatile defensive back who can play well at safety or in the slot. Branch was coached by Nick Saban and it shows, as his football IQ is obvious. He diagnoses plays quickly and isn’t afraid to fly around and hit. Branch is fearless and is an exceptional tackler. Along with his physical nature, he is also a tremendous cover corner, showing the ability to win in both man and zone coverages. Put him wherever you want on your defense, though he fits best as a slot corner.

Weaknesses

While Brian Branch has all of the skills to play in the slot, he is a bit undersized for a player that does his best work around the line of scrimmage. Branch is not a ball hawk when playing deep despite processing plays quickly. Like most defensive backs coming out of college, Branch also has the tendency to grab, which should solve itself with more experience and coaching.
