Buffalo Bills Preview

The Bills lost outright to the Jacksonville Jaguars as 15.5-point road favorites last Sunday. It marked the biggest NFL betting upset of the season to date and was a game that Buffalo would soon like to forget. The fact that they lost on the scoreboard despite the defense holding Jacksonville to just 218 total yards and nine points says it all. Quarterback Josh Allen reverted to rookie form, throwing two picks and fumbling away another turnover. The fact that he was being harassed by the Jaguars star defensive end with the same name only added to the humiliation. Buffalo also could not run the football at all. Allen had 50 yards with his legs, but RBs Devin Singletary and Zack Moss combined for a whopping 22 yards.

From an offensive standpoint, Sunday’s NFL betting showdown against the Jets appears to be a great get-right spot. The Bills will be taking on a defense that ranks dead last in adjusted efficiency on the season with sub-30 rankings against both the run and pass. However, the Bills’ offensive line must play better than it has in each of the last two games. For as bad as the Jets defense has been, the Jaguars and Miami Dolphins haven’t been much better this season. Buffalo struggled mightily to move the ball against both of those teams in each of their last two games.

New York Jets Preview

After stunning the Cincinnati Bengals to win the second of three home games played thus far, the Jets were dominated in the trenches in a Thursday night NFL betting loss to the Indianapolis Colts last week. The fact that New York managed to score 30 points in the game with Josh Johnson stepping in was rather astonishing. Sunday, the Jets offense will be back in the hands of Mike White. Yes, the same Mike White who threw for over 400 yards and went down in New York sports history with his performance against the Bengals. It’s still hard to believe that it marked the first start of his career. Rather than focusing on media rumors about a potential quarterback controversy between White and Zach Wilson, the Jets must continue to take things one game at a time.

All of that being said, it will be very difficult even for Mike White to find success against the stout Buffalo defense. The Bills have allowed the fewest points per game (14.8) of any team and also rank first in adjusted defensive efficiency. The pass defense has been particularly strong, which is bad news for a Jets offense that has struggled to run the ball consistently. Expect both Michael Carter and Ty Johnson to again be involved in the passing game out of the backfield. The team will get a boost with the return of top wideout Corey Davis as well. Defensively, losing safety Marcus Maye to IR is a big blow. Robert Saleh’s best bet is to dial up pressure to try and beat Buffalo’s poor offensive line.
