NFL Playoff Picture | AFC Playoff Standings
The AFC Playoff picture is a little more convoluted than what we see in the NFC. It is the dawn of a new day; the start of a new era. Or, maybe we are turning back the clock, since it’s the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots atop the NFL Playoff Picture in the AFC.
The other two divisions are a bit more up in the air; the Jacksonville Jaguars currently have hold of the AFC South, at 9-5. However, the Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts are both a game behind (8-5), with the Texans having the tiebreaker there. It is a similar situation for the AFC North-leading Pittsburgh Steelers (7-6), who have a narrow lead over the Baltimore Ravens (6-7). Notably, these two play in Week 18.
As for the AFC Wild Card race, it’s the Los Angeles Chargers and Buffalo Bills at 9-4, then the Texans are at 8-5. The Kansas City Chiefs are on the outside looking in. They have a big matchup against the Chargers this week. The Chiefs would have to run the table while getting some help, from the Chargers especially, in order to sneak in.
Let’s take a look at the AFC Playoff picture. Remember, the top seven teams in the AFC Playoff standings are in, and winning the division rewards the team with a top-four seed.

Bengals Playoffs Chances | Bengals Playoff Scenarios
The Cincinnati Bengals’ playoff chances are on life support right now, and that’s because they need to win the rest of their games and get a bunch of help in order to make the postseason. Before Week 15 kicks off, The Athletic NFL Playoff Simulator gives the Bengals a 3% chance to make the playoffs, given their 4-9 record and the tiebreakers they possess (or don’t). The ESPN Power Index views the Bengals’ odds to make the playoffs the same, at 3.4%.
In Week 15, the Bengals will face off against the Baltimore Ravens, who are also fighting to win the division and get the automatic bid to the playoffs out of the AFC North. While yes, this is an important game, the Bengals have to run the table to have any sort of chance to make the NFL Playoffs. In fact, if Cincinnati wins its final four games to finish the season 8-9, the Bengals’ playoff odds still only sit at 27%.
So, how do they make the playoffs? Cincinnati would need the Ravens and Steelers to lose their games over the next two weeks in order to even the race in the division. Then, if the Ravens win in the final week over the Steelers, it could eliminate Pittsburgh in favor of Cincinnati. Their divisional foes have some tough matchups, so this Bengals playoff scenario is possible. It, however, does still appear to be a long shot.
Cincinnati Bengals Remaining Schedule | Can the Bengals Make the Playoffs?
Can the Bengals make the playoffs? Technically, yes! Do you believe in miracles?
The Bengals have to win every game on their schedule for this to even be a conversation. The final four games of the season will be against the Ravens, Dolphins, Cardinals and Browns. Honestly, they very easily could win all of those games. As mentioned above, the Bengals’ playoff odds also rely on the Steelers and Ravens screwing themselves a bit.
There is no road to the playoffs through the Wild Card for Cincinnati, so all of the focus is on Pittsburgh and Baltimore to fall on their face. However, as discussed above, the Bengals’ playoff chances do look unlikely. You can bet on the Bengals’ playoff odds in either direction ahead of this weekend’s matchup.
