The Cincinnati Bengals will bring back linebacker Jordan Evans for another year in The Jungle.

This will be the fifth season in Cincinnati for Evans, a 6-3, 242-pounder from Oklahoma, who signed a one-year deal on Sunday. Evans, who was selected in the sixth round in the 2017 NFL Draft, played in 60 games over the past four years and made nine starts.

The Bengals (4-11-1) used Evans mainly on special teams over the past two seasons. But prior to that, he managed to post 122 tackles and 3.5 sacks. He also pulled down two interceptions and had one fumble recovery.

Bengals Free Agency News

In other news, the Bengals re-signed offensive tackle Quinton Spain to a one-year deal earlier this week.

The move comes on the heels of the team signing offensive lineman and free-agent Riley Reiff to help secure the front five to protect quarterback Joe Burrow, who went down in Week 11 of last year to a knee injury that required reconstructive surgery.

According to the Bengalswire.com, Spain allowed only one sack in 720 snaps.

Spain, a seven-year veteran from West Virginia, was a college free agent and signed with Tennessee in 2015. He was with the Titans through the 2018 season and started 48 games. Spain joined Buffalo in 2019 and re-signed with the Bills on a three-year deal, but was released mid-season last year.

Cincinnati signed Spain on the practice squad and made him active a few days later. He went on to start in the final eight games last season. Spain was moved to right guard and struggled in his last few games (57.6 offensive grade.)

Given the fact he switched teams midseason and played in an unfamiliar role at guard, the Bengals feel confident in the 6-4, 330-pound lineman.

The Bengals have the fifth pick in the NFL Draft and are expected to select Oregon offensive lineman Penei Swell. However, there is some speculation the Burrow wants former LSU wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase.
