Baylor vs Clemson Prediction | March Madness Expert Picks
The Baylor Bears had little to no resistance from the Colgate Raiders in the first round. Shooting 58% from the field and 53% from the three point line, the Bears were led by Jalen Bridges. Bridges led a quartet of double digit scorers with 23 points. Ja’Kobe Walter added 19, Jayden Nunn 15 and RayJ Dennis 10. That quartet of scoring goes to show that Baylor can attack teams from a lot of different positions on the court. They were also able to hold a good Colgate Raiders offense to just 67 points. Making 16 threes, the Bears were able to show their chops hitting threes, something that was slightly inconsistent this season.
In the first round of the tournament, Clemson fended off a really good New Mexico team, That came on the back of star P.J. Hall, who finished the game with 14 points. It was actually Chase Hunter though who led the team. Hunter scored 21 points on 8/16 shooting from the field. Clemson did an incredible job against New Mexico in limiting the three point shot. The Lobos shot just three of 23 from the three point line, something that will need to be replicated to take down the Bears. Clemson does have a very underrated player in the country to help them though. Ian Schieffelin is an undersized forward, who plays like he is seven feet. Against New Mexico, he totaled 16 points and 12 rebounds and caused a number of disruptions.
For Clemson to be able to bring home the upset, they are going to need to limit the Bears scoring. It is hard to say that, given they can attack you from all angles, but guys like Jalen Bridges and Ja’Kobe Walter cannot be the leading scorers. If they can hold Baylor to what they did against New Mexico, then I think they can win this game. That is a tall ask though. I think it may be more likely that Baylor can expose the paint, by picking up fouls on P.J. Hall. If Hall gets into foul trouble, Clemson is going to struggle. Both the offense and defense runs through him, so he needs to be on the court. Baylor’s fire power is going to be too much for Clemson in this one.
