Spanish Super Cup Final: Barcelona vs Real Madrid Preview

Real Madrid has progressed to the final after beating Valencia in the semi-final 4-3 in the penalty shootout, with Karim Benzema scoring in the 39th minute and Lino for Valencia in the 46th minute. Both teams created chances but couldn’t convert them, and after 30 minutes of extra time, the match was decided on penalties where Cumart and Gaya’s missed penalties knocked them out of the competition.

They’ll face their bitter rival, Barcelona, moving forward to the final. Carlos Ancelotti will be without Aurelien Tchouameni and David Alaba, who didn’t travel to Saudi Arabia due to a Calf problem. In contrast, Alvaro Odriozola didn’t feature against Valencia due to muscle problems. In the semi-final, Lucas Vazquez suffered an ankle injury, Eduardo Camavinga a knee injury, and Eder Militao sustained a head injury. However, the first two will be available to feature, with the latter sidelined for six weeks.

Real Madrid Probable Starting XI: Courtois, Carvajal, Milita, Rudiger, Mendy, Kroos, Valverde, Modric, Rodrygo, Benzema, Vinicius

On the other hand, Barcelona beat Real Betis in the second semi-final to book their ticket to the final. Veteran striker Robert Lewandowski scored in the 40th minute for Barcelona while Nabil Fekir in the 77th minute for Real Betis, ending the standard time with 1-1. Ansu Fati scored in the 93rd minute, while Moron Garcia scored in the 101st minute; the only action after that was Guardado receiving a red card in the 118th minute. With 2-2, the match was to be decided on penalties where Juanmi and Carvalho missed for Betis and knocked Betis out of the competition.

In the title game, they’ll face their biggest rival, Real Madrid. Unlike their opponent, Fc Barcelona has no injury concerns ahead of this game. Catalan is the most successful side in this competition but has failed to win the trophy since 2018. Once again, they’re in the final and would like to win this title game against bitter rivals.
